Yeah, I missed the boat on ordering..i waited to try to time it with the arrival of my Isbar eggs, but they sold out. I was hoping someone on here might have extra chicks of that "breed."
I hatched 5 CCL chicks a week ago. I initially thought there were 3 pullets and 2 roos, but now not so sure. I think 2 are obviously roos, one obviously a pullet, but not sure about two others. One looks like a female but has the tiniest white dots on its head...like a millimeter.
Anyone have recommendations on the type of paint that is best to use inside and outside of the coop? I would like something that is resistant to mildew, easy to clean, good coverage, etc but also not toxic to the chickens. TIA!
Oh, that would be great! I'll hold out hope then.
I'm not sure if the breeder has a guarantee that would allow me to return a male...and my kids are quite fond of "Daisy" and would be so sad if we had say goodbye! 😊
Oh, wow! Is that breed heavier than Leghorns? Because that would explain why the one with black spots is so much heavier than the other one when they were hatched the same day!
These are supposed to be 2 White Leghorn pullets hatched the same day. The comb of one is larger and more orange. The other one has several black feathers on her body.
Are they both pullets?
Are they both white leghorns? Lol
I have 34 eggs in the incubator... They are a mix of Crested Cream Legbar, Isbar, Crested Cream Legbar X Isbar, and Crested Cream Legbar X Black Copper Marans.
They should hatch the last day of April!!!
Wow, thanks so much for all the time you have invested in giving me all this advice! I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. I wouldn't have thought about needing more landing area for higher roost bars. 🤦🏻♀️
They will definitely have access to the outdoors 365 days a year. Other than 15 minutes of flurries one every couple years, it has only really snowed here once in the last 16 years when we got 4 inches on Christmas Eve. It's rare to get below 55* even in the middle of the winter.
This is the view from the back porch. The space between those trees is about 24'. There is a small strip of yard behind the garage, and another small space (8'x20') on the other side of the garage. Originally we had planned to include that space as part of the run, but our neighbor has a pool...
Thanks for the reply!
I had planned to roof the run too. The area we were planning to build is pretty well shaded all day. The big tree for most of the day, and the garage the rest of the day.
I thought about an open-side coop but worried about the amount of rain we get. Thoughts on that...
I've cut quite a lot of it, and bought from Lowe's. 🤦🏻♀️ I bought the "12 chickens" plan, didn't see the dimensions until after the purchase. At that point I was skeptical, as I'd heard 3 ft per bird, but a quick Google search turned up results saying 2-3 ft is fine, so I (foolishly)...
