Well, maybe someday you can get a better incubator and just use that one as a hatching one or temporary brooder.
I'd check into the Kebonnix. It holds only 12 eggs but is highly rated, even on BYC, and half the price of yours. The NR360 holds 22, and that's another decent one. It was my first...
...humidity.
I would try find one that at least has auto turning and external water adding so you don't have to open the incubator every day.
Kebonnix is what many of us recommend for those who want to hatch a dozen or less at a time. Here's a thread about this one...
So I have 11 eggs in my Kebonnixs incubator, and 5 of them will be going into lockdown 20 hours from now. 3 of them hatch in a week, and 3 hatch in 10 days. What should I do? Also, I have a broody Muscovy sitting on 21 eggs(13 her own, 3 other ducks eggs and 5 chicken eggs).
Wondering if I could...
It’s a Kebonnixs 12 egg incubator. It’s in my bedroom away from the windows but the room is the one with the most light in the whole house. During the afternoon the sun shines through my windows. Generally that’s when the humidity levels rise the most so I usually turn on the AC so the room...
Ooooh your friend should sell the guards for those brinseas - I swear every used one I have seen has that piece lost, and I have lost one of them myself 😂 They are hard to hang onto. Very exciting!!! I would probably do 6 and 6 in each one just in case there is a failure with one of the...
everyone might be surprised, but my groups started from a flock in Georgia and another flock in Florida, and they are still hardier than the Cream Legbars. I have increased their weather tolerance, but they are pretty great all climate birds. I would say anyone in a cool temperate to sub...
I'm not familiar with the Kebonnix so I don't know. But you can calculate it yourself instead of depending on AI.
What date did you put the eggs in the incubator? What day of the week was it? An egg does not have 24 hours worth of development the instant you put it in the incubator. That's...
Always check your incubators accuracy with a mercury thermometer not a digital thermometer and note or mark anywhere that is a cold spot. It also looks like the Kebonnix has the same issue as the MaticoopX in that there will be cold spots behind the element holder columns.
Sorry. I thought this thread was Kebonnixs. I sent the Kebonnixs back. It was terrible at holding humidity. I had to close the vent to 3/4 (supposed to be 2/3 open) and had to use both dish sides to get above 45% humidity. I don’t know how I would’ve reached an adequate humidity for lockdown...
I can't help too much there, just like with all breeds they tolerate cold much better than hot, so I think your usually heat buster tricks would work.
@NanaK @Auntiejessi3 @TexasBlues might be able to help here.
Or if your on FB a local Marans group might be a good resource also.
Is that for BCM? That's what we are hatching. A friend used a Hova-Bator dry the entire 21 days on some of our dark Marans eggs and had a really good hatch. We have a Kebonnixs that i due for lockdown and I'm tempted to try it, but also a little afraid.
Day 10 on the Runner Duck eggs.
I checked for viable life today- still have 9 strong babies!
4 left in the Janoel12 and 5 left in the Kebonnix.
Notes on each bator-
The Janoel and Kebonnix seem to stay within a degree or so.
The Janoel has slightly larger swings up and down within that...
...I brought in a Smart Incubator as it’s very inexpensive. After setting it up my thermometer showed it was at 99.5 degrees so I learned my Kebonnix was wrong. I should have returned it when I still could but lesson learned. I’ve ordered a 2nd Smart Incubator and I have a larger Mikiroy...
