    They are white and have no red feathers. They have very large legs. One just died yesterday so i only have one left anyway. so it doesn't seem like i'll have this problem very long. I just won't get those chickens again.

    Yes they were white. I think that the salesperson who sold them to me didn't know what he was talking about when he said they were egg layers though. They don' t lay very often and they are very fat and will eat a lot!!! They are Golden Cross, or thats what the label said on the box.

    No they were not vaccinated, i got them at a Co-op. They are Golden-Cross pullets. ABout 6 hens and 1 rooster. That link does sound about right. Should my surviving chickens be alright now after 4 months? Or are they still in danger?

    i just heard recently that the nesting boxes need to have little 1 inch sides around the open shelf platform to keep the shavings in and the chicken warm and comfy when they nest. Is this what i am supposed to do?

    Yea i really like the black ones, i'll get them again next spring too. So from what i have heard so far you guys think they have all stopped laying b/c of either the cold or they are now molting?? Does that sound about right?     I already know what happened to my chickens dieing. I fed them to much and they got to fat for their legs and were unable to eat. But I am asking about the hens i have now and if them not laying eggs is due to the freezing temp. or the dead rooster. Has this been known to happen?
