We finished! Under the dirt in the coop we have wire so nothing can dig under, and all the sides have wire 1/2 inch squares, no gaps in anything, my mother in law is already talking about adding 4 more we definitely have the space for them
I’m just ready to get them out of my house! My husband was like we have 6 weeks, we’ll be fine. Yeah NO. They can get out of the brooder, and there’s poop EVERYWHERE.
I’m sorry For the late reply I didn’t get the notifications!! But this is what we have thus far. I’ve been told is large but so far it’s been pretty neat to build!!
My husband didn’t want to make a closed in part, like just be all open, but don’t they need like a “house” part to actually be inside at some points? It’s pretty predator proof I think.
My chicks are still in a brooder in my bathroom as it’s the only space that typically nothing can get to them, they are 3 weeks old.
My son accidentally left the door opened and my dear husband didn’t realize it until my dog got a chick, she has one puncture wound, doesn’t seem majorly hurt...
Update on the chick, I got nutri-drench today, and it has helped wonders! She’s actually up and moving around a bit, still a little weak but getting better, tomorrow I’ll put her back in with the rest of the chicks. And I seem to be in the clear from pasty butt!
Definitely my first go around with chickens, I made the unwise decision to just buy them with no prior research on them, but have learned a heck of a lot!
I’ll try that! I change it every day, but I’ll try the shavings!
She started with pasty butt, and I started on the electrolytes yesterday but if I don’t force her to drink she won’t. /: I was up every hour last night getting her to get a few drops of water
I have no idea what they are. I saw them at the feed store and begged my husband to get them for my son and I. When I say no prior knowledge, literally none. I’ll snap a picture of 5 of them, one of them is really sick and I have her separated because she was trampled by the healthy ones
Hello! I’m new to the whole chicken raising life, I have (6) three week old chicks, and I absolutely have no idea what I am doing. I can’t wait to learn more and find more people to help!
Hello all, my name is Paige, I’m new to the chicken life, and started with my first 6 a week ago!
I’m from Houston Texas, and live in the area!
I found this site through google search when one of my chicks got pasty butt, and I’ve gotten a lot of knowledge from here!
I have a 2 year old son...
