I just had my dad and FIL over-engineer a coup... changed what I wanted 5 or 6 times... Got them all irritated from changing and just dumbed down the first drawing that I made.
(my FIL seriously had all the angles worked out that we needed, something incredibly stupid like 34.28 degrees...
I built my coop as a 12'x20' building... I made it a dual purpose one. The "left" side (14'x12') has an 8' sliding barn door and I'm currently using it to store all of my gardening stuff as well as lawnmowers and chicken supplies... whatever kind of stuff my wife is yelling at me about to...
Glad someone asked this.
Just had a friend that knows I just ordered more chicks text me asking:
"Want to go in on a duck order?"
Naturally I reply back with "Sure, I think I could use a few."
Searching now for "3 sided coop"... I don't know how that's any better than no coop. Apparently...
I'm interested...
I will show up (and/or pre-pay) if anyone has some spare Orpington hens (already have 3 roosters). Mostly interested in blues, blacks, and splashes...
Will this be too much for a 3 year old to attend? It could be fun to have him help pick out some more chickens....
Maybe I shouldn't be surprised that it's one of the better looking ones (if it is a roo)...
Now I just need to think of a name for him. Is Spicy/No. 6 a good roo name?

I sent a text to Greg Marlett (I got them from him) saying I got 8 roo's... lol
It's a good thing I do what I do for a living, because a chicken sexer I am not.
There are 2 I would say are definitely hens, this is not one of them.
For what it's worth (which probably isn't much, lol), my blacks and blues were pretty much the same color. The blacks were, as one would assume, black... and the blues were a dark-ish gray. The older they got the more black or blue they became.
Out of the 8 I had none of them were light...
...need to get some updated "hen or roo" pics because now I'm thinking I only have 2 roos and the only one I wanted to be a hen is one of them... *sigh* They are getting to be some pretty good looking birds IMO.
They made it through the awesome weather on Wednesday night w/o any problems...
Anyone have the Building chicken coops for dummies book??
Worth the money or does it basically say "build a shed with an extra, little door"? I'm considering the combo of the dummies books from the BYC store, but I'd just like a bit of input on it. (no reviews, of course)
I'm thinking now...

do you feel like the hoop coop is fairly safe for them...? any worries about raccoons/opposums/w/e?
I like the idea of a movable coop/tractor. Whether or not they need grass in the run, I just feel like they'd be happier and would be less likely to get bored and start picking on each...
...doubles as a pickup truck since it wall haul dang near anything. I just and ask how much it cost them to fill up and reply back "From empty... *think*... I think it cost me a hair over $20, and it'll last me a good 300 miles or so."
but back to chickens:
How many chickens would an...

1. Thanks.
2 I seriously doubt it. They haven't been outside in anything under 50 degrees. Today was their first experience with rain (light sprinkle for 10 minutes, them hanging put in the little house I made, in their pen which is covered in tin) if it can happen in those...
