Pullets pecking each other, and it's getting out of control.

h My chickens are true free run and do this, so that is too simplistic of an answer. I have used the "Peck-No-More" to no avail, and it is very expensive. I have fed them cat food, which is supposed to help with any protien issues. They have AMPLE access to bugs and critters of all sorts. I...

8 week old chick with foot issues

I ended up with 2 of 8 of my Dominiques (vaccinated) with Marek's. None of the others, but that was pretty bad odds.

    weak/sick little chick

She will no doubt die tonight, but try bringing her in and keeping her temperature at exactly 99-100, giving her a bit of water in a syringe, and maybe even go to sugar water--strong stuff, but just for a bit! Of course you've made sure her bum is clean, and she was introduced to water...

    HELP! Chick with muscle spasms

Sorry, now I see your chick is a month old. Marek's usually presents at a later date, and can occur in vaccinated chicks. There is a disease that affects silkies, and maybe cochins(?) that my vet mentioned that can cause muscle paralysis/spasms. I don't know anything else about it... Sorry.

    HELP! Chick with muscle spasms

How old is the chick? Was it vaccinated against Marek's? You'll usually lose about 5-10% of your chicks, so don't get too overwrought, especially if it's a little one. Give it a strong sugar water with a syringe, and follow with a bit of water. That's about all you can do for it if it is a...

i want to leave heat light on for injured bird, but worry about the others

At 8 weeks there shouldn't be a problem, but I would certainly get the infra-red bulb, not the white. A bit more expensive, but sounds like your dog has already cost you a bunch. Do fence them very securely! Your dog will always kill chickens. They don't give it up.

    3 poop butts

You're in NC, so are they into a lot of new greens that were not available a few weeks ago.? (Here, we still have snow on the ground!) A big change in diet might be it with no other symptoms presenting. I'd just clip feathers, too and wait until everything settles. (I could be wrong, though!)...
