Here I thought I was a pro at guessing genders, BOs are so hard. Or Im in denial that I have roosters. :(
I bought 6 BO's, three of which I'm certain are pullets.
I think PepperJack is a boy, and I'm really really hoping the other two are girls.
PepperJack is the smallest compared to the...
I live in Alaska so a decent vet is hard to come by. I couldn't handle doing my own necropsy, my chickens are my pets and I couldn't stomach it. I've been told it could also be a crop issue, which is what I'm hoping for as it seems easier to handle than a reproductive issue.
I will. I'm also giving her a bit of bread with olive oil and tums on/in it, someone said it could be the start of being eggbound so it cant hurt to try.
All her droppings that I've seen recently (2 or 3 poos) have been white and very watery. She's doing worse today, she didn't even come eat corn like she normally would. I think she might have been laying down under the coop all day. Her bottom feathers have poo stuck to them but it doesn't look...
My hen panner has a wider, squatting stance compared to the other hens. It's subtle but she's waddling a bit. She is 2 or 3 years old.
She seems a little slow, even when she runs she falls behind the other hens. She's been laying down more frequently. She's gained weight but its possibly water...
A bit hard to explain, sorry in advance.
If you feel the keel (breast) bone in a chicken and move your hand down to the lowest part of it, between the chickens legs, and then feel the area on the sides of the keel bone, how should it feel? Firm or squishy like theres water or fat around it?
I...
I'll get more pictures later. I didn't take pictures of her eyes, but they're bright and clear today. Her crop went down but felt a little squishy instead of firm and flat.
I've seen bubbles in Panners eye multiple times (a week between incidents usually) and I've only seen bubbles in my flock...
My hen Panner has had eye bubbles recently but I pushed it off as just getting dirt in her eye. I picked her up today and she was HEAVY, and she hasn't gained weight so she shouldn't feel heavier than normal. Her stomach and area between her thighs feels like its full of water, her crop feels...
As far as I know, she hasn't laid an egg in months, if not a year. I thought she was deformed when I first got her so I didn't mind her not laying eggs, I now know it was pendulous crop, not a deformity.
Her crop/abdomen keeps changing. It goes from hard, to hard and bubbly/gurgley when I...
My hen has a pendulous crop and sour crop. I had her off water for 12 hours and off food for 24. All she's had to eat today is a few bits of chicken feed and some bird seed I let her get off the ground.
I can't get her to vomit, I've spent hours trying. I have given her vinegar water.
When I...
