I want to thank McPhersonFarm for the Buff Orpington eggs they shipped from Florida to me in Western Washington. The eggs were packaged wonderful and got here in 2 days. I bought 2 dozen and have 19 that went into lockdown, these are going to be the best results I have ever had with shipped...
Wow, I am so excited! I just hatched 19 from 20 eggs of black, blue and I think some splash LF Orpingtons. I am hoping none of them are going to be splashes as they are not my favorite. I also just got 2 dozen more Orpington eggs from Florida so I get to start all over again. LOL
Hi, I showed for the first time at Clark county and I really am still learning but one thing I did find out is the chickens need to be at least 5 months old. Now if I am not correct hopefully someone will correct this. My chickens were 7 months and the oldest ones I own. I met some very nice...
LOL, Thank you CarolynF and I remember seeing a lady wearing a pin on her shirt and thought where had I seen that before?
Sorry I didn't say anything to you. :(

I also wanted to say I had a really good time this weekend.
Winning reserve large fowl with my orpington rooster Cee Lo that I hatched from eggs purchased from Pam Watson in Kelso was amazing, since this was my very first show.
Also met some really nice people.
I was not very good about...
I have LF Orpingtons, black, white, lavender, and blues. I bought eggs this past spring and hatched these. I am still looking for buffs. I am just getting started so all these are young. We are building pens like crazy. LOL
Good luck! I have ordered several times from e-bay with about 3 hatching from each dozen. I was told by a friend that if the seller wraps in tin foil you have better results but have not tried that yet. It is suppose to help with x ray machines.
This is very interesting. I will write this down and so I can keep reading it as I am mating birds. I have a copy of the American standard of perfection and going to try to breed to it. LOL "try" It is going to be hard if the eggs I keep buying are not producing good birds. Well I have a start...
Thank you for replying and you gave me some good info. I am not really wanting to breed splashes but when you buy eggs you get what they send. LOL I want to keep to the breed standards and continue to learn. The white was what I was concerned about since I only have one of them. I will just have...
I am new to LF Orpingtons. I have hatched this past spring several colors so I could have a variety. I am enjoying watching them grow and now trying to find out about breeding for these colors. I have whites, blacks, lavenders, blues, splashes, and splits from black and lavenders. Is there any...
I bought eggs from e-bay and the lavenders are really bad. The feathers look like frizzles and they are not growing. I only have 3 left and they are 4 weeks and still have to have a light in there house. The splits I hatched at the same time are 4 times the size and doing great. The splits are...
You have a good point. I did not get to see the parents or the living conditions. I have been looking for some lavenders and when I saw the ad I called but she was selling for another person. Now that I look back this was stupid of me. LOL I have some eggs in the incubator that I ordered but...
The babies that died did so over a weeks time. The ones that are alive look great and are growing and getting there feathers. I have a heat light into them and yes they are on medicated chick starter.
I have 16 baby ducks that I hatched out of my incubator , they are in another pen but I haven't...
Not a clue why the others died. They died on different days and always the day before they would just sit all humped up. No raspy sounds or poo on the butt. They were not growing and just slept a lot. The survivors are running around and acting just fine. I called the lady that I got them from...
