Thank you for your response! I haven't seen many more feathers than what's out of the ordinary just a few here and there from time to time. She's never had a big molt - her sister had her first big one a few months back. She only has one sister (four pullets moving in soon) but they've been best...
Thank you for your response! I don't want her to, no, it's just her and her sister but I have four pullets who are right around laying age who are about to start to live with them in the big girl run (they've been in quarantine out of sight). I can only have 6 in my county and I'm also scared of...
Hi There!
I have a 1.5 year old barred rock who has been acting strange but not doing all of the things I usually read about in broody hens. She's never been broody before. She started wanting to sleep in her nesting box three nights ago. I was able to pick her up (twice) and she slept on her...
Hi There! Unfortunately, the vet thought that my little girl might have just had failure to thrive. We put her down because we knew that she may end up getting sick right after we healed her up again. If I could go back and redo, I would have started by going to the vet to get the albon because...
Thank you, friends! She doesn't seem comfortable and doesn't seem present. She won't eat anything at all - mash, eggs, treats, you name it. She's now doing convulsing things from time to time and I'm taking her to be put down. She's a great girl. Her sister died a few months back and it looked...
Hello!
My sweet posh finished deworming two or three weeks ago, finished antibiotics last week, and the vet advised to continue on corid to have a 10-day treatment for coccidiosis diagnosed in fecal sample. Last night she was completely fine albeit pale as she's been for weeks. This morning she...
No shell-less or soft eggs but I don't usually see her go inside when she's laying. I only really ever see my australorp going inside but I don't think I'm usually out when the other girls lay. She's still acting normal but her poops are still green. They seem to be a normal consistency, though...
Hello!
I don't know anything about these other than what I've googled but does this look like a lash egg? I've never seen poop like this?
She's an 8-month-old lavender orpington and she seems to be acting normal?
Thank you!
Oh man I just saw that other reply, too! I'm so glad to hear there's hopeful news! My little lavender orpington hasn't been feeling great and I just started deworming so it's nice to hear someone else has positive news. You're probably doing this already but also take care to keep her cool so...
That's great to know, I'll look up how we should give that to her and I'll try to start that up tonight and tomorrow (if she makes it). The farm said that that brood of speckleds all seemed to have issues and they had a lot of runts
Thank you! She hasn't started them yet - those were prescribed yesterday and have to go through a compounding pharmacy so we won't have them for a few days (if she's still around). The sling looks like it would be really helpful we'll try that thank you so much!
Thank you! After looking more into it, she does fit all of the symptoms of vitamin B deficiency. I was just informed there are some head tremors, as well. We got some from Rite Aid and gave her her first B complex dose
She eats medicated chick crumbles (we were planning on switching to unmedicated today after we learned about the coccidiosis result being negative yesterday). Beyond that, she eats mealworms and melon (cantaloupe, honeydew, watermelon) for treats.
