    The Olive-Egger thread!

Beautiful Eggs! Thanks for the replies. Ihilani- I may be interested! The avacado color is what I was hoping to find. I came across an auction that is a few years old by "ruth", I think her name is Monique, she had a wide variety of teals through green, which were really beautiful. From the...

    The Olive-Egger thread!

hello! I'm looking for some F2 or possibly F3 olive egger hatching eggs. I haven't seen any posted on the buy/sell/trade forum, so I thought I'd post here. I really love the deep and bright greens and would love to add a few to my flock. Thanks!

I had a hatchery polish. She usually laid 5 white eggs a week and they were medium to large. She loved to go broody, but was very easy to break, so I would not have trusted her to stay on the eggs til they hatched. I have only kept chickens for 3 years, and I have never had a chicken hatch out...

Does Silver Laced Polish x New Hampshire create a sex-link?

Would a Silver Laced Polish rooster and a New Hampshire hen create sex-linked babies? We have some beautiful mutts. All the dark chicks were female. Most of the white chicks were definitely male, but some white chicks met a raccoon before we could be sure. I am wondering if the coloring was...

Hello! I've been lurking for a long time and learning a lot from you. I got most of my ladies from Trish, they are wonderful and beautiful birds! Today, I'm looking for a few hatching eggs for a friend who lost his leghorn and misses the big white egg in his basket. Does anyone have fertile...

    Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

Hello! This was my first hatch. It was very exciting!! I set 27 eggs, 24 went into lockdown, 19 hatched. I had 10 local eggs and 17 shipped, all 10 of the local eggs hatched, 3 of the shipped eggs were infertile, and 9 hatched. I think 19 out of 24 is pretty good. I'm enjoying the chicks!

    Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

Good Morning! There was one pip when I went to bed and when I woke up I had one chick and 11 more pips! 24 out of 27 eggs went into lock down, but I'm not really sure how many of those were still alive. This is my first hatch and I don't really know what I'm doing, but I've been learning a...

    Signs A Chicken Is Blind

Enggass, Your chicken sounds just like one of mine. Did you keep yours? If so, has she started to lay? and has she figured out where the nest boxes are, or does she just use the floor? My lady is very sweet and affectionate and seems to do pretty well. I keep the food and water in the...

So, umm, how DO you find out if you're a legal eagle or an outlaw?

Good Luck! I knew keeping chickens in my town was against the current city zoning code, because there is a big movement to change the ordinance. I decided I'd like to see how the language was worded, and I read through the city code. twice. It's very long and there is no table of contents- at...

    Outlaw Coops

Xyresicchick- I've been thinking about how to use plants to beautify, and possibly help disguise, my "very legal bunny hutch and run", ha ha. Make sure you check out what plants are toxic for chickens. I'm pretty sure morning glories aren't good for them, but I think nasturtiums should be fine...
