We put them together in our brooder while we went to build the bigger brooder. This was an unexpected addition. I understand they were probably stressed from overcrowding. I just want to know what to do now. As in how do I help to heal the babies and work toward putting them back together.
Thanks.
We have 6 week old chicks and today got 7 (2wk old) more. After being together for a couple hours, the younger ones began pecking the tail feathers out of the older ones to the point of drawing blood.
We have separated them now and isolated the 2 bloody bottom girls. But now, I am not sure what...
I am super happy with them and may get more from the same breeder. I got them straight run along with a RIR who appears to be a roo. If I hatch any of their eggs, what would they be like?
I got them from a lady I met in TSC who hatches and sells her chicks. She said they were Ameraucanas, but I wasn't going to question her. She's been raising poultry for years.
I understand there is some confusion on the 2 and that Ameraucanas are somewhat rare. I was sold these lovelies as Ameraucanas, but wouldn't be too sad if they turn out to be EEs. They are about 6 wks.
Can you tell from this picture?
This is our first foray into chickens. I have heard that Ameraucanas are rare and are usually EE. These were sold to us as Ameraucanas but I wouldn't be sad if they are EE. I think they are gorgeous. They are all about 6 wks.
Can you tell from this pic, Ameraucana or EE?
