Hello,
We still have our big Blue Cochin hen, Bluebell, that is in need of a good home. She is a great girl, very easily handled and will fall asleep on her back when held :) but has just decided that she can not live with her coop-mate Daisey. She out weighs her by about 3 times and even...
We have a big beautiful Blue Cochin hen that needs a good home. She has decided that she just can't leave another one of our girls alone even after we tried the pinless peepers with her. She would probably be fine with other birds but our Daisey was debeaked when we got her so she can't defend...
Hi All,
I have a tiny little flock consisting of 2 beautiful birds (formerly 3, R.I.P. Buttercup) that live a very pampered lifestyle here in Minneapolis. They have a sweet insulated and heated coop with attached sand and boulder filled run with all the food and scratch and treats they want...
Hey chicken lovers check out the shirt for sale on shirtwoot.com today. It's pretty good rooster art. I have ordered a bunch of shirts from this site, they are very good quality. Thought everyone would appreciate todays subject.
Sounds great and looks very well built. One question I have is what will prevent a raccoon from pushing or pulling it open? With a side hinge it looks a little more vulnerable to that type of "attack"
Thanks!
Congrats on your girls productivity! My EE Buttercup just started laying 2 weeks ago just in time for the holidays. Her third egg was large like that also and it turned out to be a double yoker, they went back to a smaller size the next day. Aren't they just beautiful eggs, they look so nice...
Hi All,
Looking for more good advice from the BYC chicken pros.
My young EE Buttercup just started laying her beautiful blue green eggs and her first 2 have had what looks like a little blood smeared on the shell. Her vent looks fine and she seems happy and healthy. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
C
Awesome dogs everyone, I love it!
Here's my 2 sweetheart hounds Jabber (Jabberwocky from Lewis Carroll), the big boy on the couch and Violet, the Bunny lover. They don't get to play with the chickens.
Jabber is 10 now and was a national champion racer until he was four and a half. Violet, now...
Not sure about the meat thermometer, but a nice set of knifes would go a long way. All guys love knives (I think) and the nicer the better. Maybe a block of Wusthof Tridents? They'll last forever.
Like everyone else, I'm so sorry for your loss and to hear he didn't make it. My wife and I laughed out loud when we read his skunk story and loved all the pictures, what a beautiful boy. In a way he reminded me of my big gentle boy greyhound Jabber. He looked and sounded like quite a noble...
I just fired up the same heater in the coop up here in Minneapolis, Minnesota. We had -15 windchill today, blaaa. I hooked it up to a baseboard heater thermostat so I could tune the heat and it is maintaining a perfect 43 degrees. I bought it on ebay for $99 shipped, it is the exact same 400w...
Congratulations!!! We have hounds and would never have any other kind of dog. Our current hounds "Jabber" and "Violet" are our babies. Jabber is 10 and Violet is 5, we lost our 8 year old Dahlia almost 2 years ago now . They are the sweetest dogs ever! Not only are they couch potatoes but they...
We recently moved to a house on a lake in Minneapolis. About a week or 2 after moving into our new neighborhood my wife was walking our 2 greyhounds down to the beach and swore she saw a chicken cross the path and run into the woods. After a few days of this she told me about the "chicken" and I...
Sorry for your loss but what a life! That's something to celebrate. You'll see him in your minds eye for the rest of your life. I grew up with 2 cats that lived to 20 and 21, Muffin and Chubby, they were super cats just like Fu. Have fun on your next adventure Fu!
