Why are my females scalping each other?

Oh my ever lovin' goodness!! That's horrible. I now understand why you said no to scalping. Unless it's just the beginning and will end up at this point Do you have any idea what is going on with these birds?

Juvenile Osprey moving in to the tree next door. Seems to be eyeing my ducks?

Attacking my ducks. Thankfully not much avian flu here. I don't normally have many birds trying to get into my yard. No food or water available for them and their path from the forest to the lake is a bit east of my yard

Juvenile Osprey moving in to the tree next door. Seems to be eyeing my ducks?

Hello. I'm wondering how worried I should be about my Rouens being attacked? As of this morning I have a juvenile osprey sitting at the top of a tree just watching my yard. Just far enough out that the ducks don't send to notice it, and I needed binoculars to identify it. I read the don't bother...

    Rouen drake developed eye stripes?

They are full of surprises. Haha. Gotta love a duck! Thanks again for the info. I feel much better now. I was getting a bit worried.

    Rouen drake developed eye stripes?

Thank you so much!! Excellent news. Strange, but excellent. Lol! I had no idea they did this. Last fall we had 4 drake's and none lost their green head, but then it was their first winter so maybe that why

    Rouen drake developed eye stripes?

...sort of underlying problem developing here, or if it's just another one of Muffin Man's little "quirks". Any advice would be greatly appreciated. ** My ducks eat Purina Duck. They also get meal worms, earth worms, goldfish, scratch grains and fresh veggies. They roam free during the day in a...

Triple yolked duck egg. Could it have hatched?

I was thinking the same. Although the egg was larger than normal, it didn't seem nearly large enough for 3 ducklings in there. Twins actually hatching blows my mind. Nature is amazing, and some times confusing. Haha

Triple yolked duck egg. Could it have hatched?

I've had double yolkers, but never three. The egg was huge. Got me wondering if anyone has ever successfully hatched twins or triplets? Seems it would be impossible but then, we do live in a strange world 😉

With a little help from my friends 😁

By the time they were done there was nothing left for me to do. They actually did a great job! I was able to move right on to planting 😁 I had added some earthworm castings, fish emulsions and diatomaceous earth to the soil. I hadn't considered the waterfowl living in my yard might find it...

With a little help from my friends 😁

I walked to the shed to get a few things before turning over the garden beds (under 2 minutes, no ducks around). When I got back I found the team was already on task. Double treats for the ladies tonight 👍 Gotta love a duck! 🤣

What turned this rat inside out??? **Warning: Graphic pictures**

Wow! They do this? Had no idea I'm new to rats. Lol. A neighbor got rid of their birds and the rats are working hard to move in. We are harder at work making it inhospitable. Don't know who's winning 😕 I don't want problems for my ducks. We have ducklings coming next month too. My bird are for...

    "Rare Phase" Ducks: A Breakdown

Hello 🙂 Wanted to update on my little black duck, who isn't so little anymore. Haha. She's awesome. Yep! It's a girl! And Pyxis was absolutely correct. She has no eye stripe. And still had a mostly black head

What turned this rat inside out??? **Warning: Graphic pictures**

I set a snap trap to catch a rat. It did it's job, but..... Then something came and turned the rat inside out while eating it. It did not leave with the dead rat stuck in the trap. Only moved it a couple feet away and ate it there behind the duck house The belly is split from chest down. Looks...

    Food (New Duck Mom Panic)

...crumble again. I can't tell you what's right or wrong, but I can tell you that there I see no difference between any of the ducks in my flock. 😉 ** I just wanted to add that if your local feed store doesn't carry waterfowl food you can probably ask them to order some for you. My never...

Chick Stick for Ducks and Geese?

I'm also wondering if they'd be able to get anything off it. I haven't given anything like that to my ducks because I figured they would only get frustrated. Please let us know if you end up giving it and they are able. I'm always looking for something new to entertain the flock. 😁

Egg too small, duckling pipped, struggling to breathe, no noise, day 28 - pic attached

Aww. Poor little guy. Doing the right thing isn't easy and sometimes adulting is no fun. You are a good egg, and the ducks in your life are lucky to have you 😉

I've been using goldfish but the people at the fish store aren't always happy about what I do with them so I'm switching to minnows. Lol
