I raise and rescue alpacas so when shearing time comes, all the icky stuff that usually gets used for mulch was used this year for insulation for our hen house! It is amazing how warm the hen house was this winter!

My daughter's 3 roosters will sound off any time of night when they hear something. When my husband gets home at midnight, off they go! If our dogs bark at something, even a fire siren, off they go!

Please bear with me as I am new to this.. The "freckles" on the eggs that can wash off -I was told is dirt and "stuff" from the hen which has to be washed off. Is this true? I love seeing spotted eggs and to wash them off is a pain! I am not sure how much cleaning is needed. thoughts?
