We still have fresh tomatoes so I put olive oil in a pan, then some minced garlic, add fresh tomatoes and a few red pepper flakes, add fresh basil at the end if you have it. Top with parmesan if you like. Delish!
Hi - I cook a whole frozen bird in my crock pot. In fact, I like it better than a thawed chicken as it doesn't tend to get as overcooked and mushy like. The texture is much better. I put in water and salt and cook on low for about 8 hours. Not familiar with what the USDA says. Good luck!
I used the wire cage a lot when I had game hens. It took a few days, 3 - 5 days, with the game chickens. I have Barred Rocks and Golden Comets now and none of them have gone broody. I've had them a year now and love them!
Wow that looks great! I make sourdough bread too, but my starter is fed with instant potato flakes, sugar and water. No kneading of the dough is required and the bread is delicious.
Sounds great! Do you have lemon trees? My neighbor has a good many in pots and I get fresh lemons now and then. It is amazing the difference between the fresh and grocery store.
That sounds delicious! I saw an episode of America's Test Kitchen and they made what they called chicken and slicks. It looked really good too, but did not use eggs in the dough. Mixed the dough in the food processor.
Yes you keep it in the fridge. It sounds like sourdough bread starter, then you feed it with a mixture of instant potato flakes, sugar and water. Did they give you the recipe for the bread and how to feed it? If not, I can scan my recipe and email it to you.
I think the canned apple pie filling has already been thickened and has all the spices too so you just pour it in your crust and bake. Good luck! Oh I see this is filling that you made, sorry! If it is watery you could drain that off or put it in a saucepan and cook it down some.
