I had 2 hens this year go full momma mode. As of yesterday my brown mom had 3 hatched. My gold hen none. Today we were fixing up her own private run for moms and babies when we noticed she got down out of box, left 2 of her new chicks with momma who didnt have any hatched yet and outside. Why...
I recently took on A rooster for my flock. I had him with my flock for about 3 weeks before I realized how infested he was with lice. I have had to remove him and dispose of him due to his crazy mean attitude and aggressive behavior towards myself, kids and flock. I am wondering what I can do...
Not that I see. I went out last night to check all the hens/roos because I was blown away I had chicks with fuzzy legs. I cant see where any of it came from. The chicks though are a gorgeous black with yellow markings. I dont think I'll mind at all!! Yellow wing tips and belly markings. Cute
Rooster was a polish or Black copper Maran. Hens are mixed. I have silver laced wyandotte, speckled sussex, orpington, lavender ameraucana and Rhode island reds, barred brock & welsummer. I know mixed flock. I wasn't intending on breeding but it happened when we rescued 2 roosters.
The 1st two pictures are the brown/red ones that hatched. Beautiful little babies with a lot of attitude! The next one with the prominate comb I got 2 of and they came out with that comb already!! The last ones are of "Rocket" has fuzzy feet and some beautiful markings but very fluffy.
Did you ever figure out what that chick is? I have a few that hatched yesterday that also have fuzzy legs!! None of my hens/roos have fuzzy legs so I'm confused.
Ok wonderful community!! Out of 24 in lockdown to 20 hatched!!! 😁 yikes. I cant seem to get them interested in the water or food. They like the bottom of their box or the pine shavings. Oh man though what a beautiful hatch for my 1st time chickens.
Thank you. Yah I considered it but as they peep and roll their siblings around more are hatching so I'm gonna just let them do their thing until progress stops!! Got another one while I was cooking breakfast!!
Ok so here is the 4 I have from over night. They are really knocking the other eggs around. I'm praying they havent disturbed the ones who has pipped already.
Well I just woke up to a very lively chick. Fully hatched and loud little guy/girl. When I went to sleep there was 7 that pipped. I hope this one doesnt go too crazy telling the others around. Sure is a precious thing. This is my 1st chicken incubation but I've done ducks in the last winter months.
Thanks everyone!! My daughter and I washed up and got the turner out and eggs placed carefully on tray in about 70sec. Still getting peeping so I feel better. I'll post pics when and if I have babies
So I wont shrink wrap the ones who have broke a hole? Also what position do I put them in now that they have a hole through? I cant candle the rest now can I? Just hope they are all still alive and ready to hatch??? 😯😫
Im afraid if I open it to remove the turner and place them on the tray the 2 that have pipped will be shrink wrapped? Also wont me placing them in a different position hurt their progress??
