I have had a request from a vietnamese customer for Balut Quail. Trying to find info on how long to incubate them. Apparently it is popular in Viet nam.
One of my muscovy hens hatched out 19 the first hatch of the spring. Later hatches were smaller. When she hatched 19, there was either one or two eggs that didn't hatch.
The ducks don't know anything about the time change. They simply lay early in the morning. I would think that as the sun rises later and later, they will also lay later and later.
I've lost probably a dozen young (20 weeks or less) dual purpose chickens over the last month. They free range during the day. Think they are disapearing at dusk, but that's just a guess. I've found no plucked feathers, no blood, no remains, I'm just short a chicken when I go out to lock them...
Has anyone been to the Okmulgee Livestock Auction? Do you know what their commission on goat sales is? I know they had a sale yesterday August 16th. Do they sell every Tuesday, every other Tuesday, Every third Tuesday or what?
I use the feeders made by jimsbirdhouse "the Best ever Quail feeder". I also use it for young chicks. They are extremely efficient and very little waste.
Is the pool in the shade? If not, it can heat up quickly. Do you refill the pool with cool water regularly? My ducks use the pool throughout the day, but when I refill it with cool water in the evening, its a party.
If you let them out, there is a good chance they won't all return. They will put themselves to bed...unless a hawk gets them during the day. They are like potato chips to hawks. Can't eat just one.
I tried the shrink bags for the first time this weekend. I guess I'm not making a large enough puncture in the bag because I'm left with air pockets. I'm piercing over the breast. Not over the breast bone as I now read that I'm supposed to , but just to the side of the breast bone. I used a...
If the gums and inside of the eyelid are still not showing good pink color, they should be wormed. Twice. 10 days apart. Its ok to do when pregnant. Even late stage pregnancy. The first time will kill the mature worms. Within the ten days, the eggs that the goat is still carrying will...
Have they done a fecal egg count on them recently? Or FAMACHA scoring? Did they worm a second time within about 10 days of the last wormer to break the worm's life cycle. Have they used only one wormer? Could be that the worms have become resistant to that wormer and although they have been...
She does look pregnant. If she'll let you, you can try this. Straddle the goat, and wrap your arms around her stomach, twining your fingers together. Gently but firmly lift up. If the doe is due in July, you will feel a hard mass. That's baby goat. You may have to palpate her stomach in...
Have the goats been wormed lately? In the first couple of pictures, it looks like her backbone is pretty lean. If you think she might be due in July, I would worm her and give her a CDT vaccination. I guarantee the goats will lose weight when they are nursing one or two babies even if they...
This is classic raccoon behavior. They reach through chicken wire and grab whatever they can reach. Pull birds through the wire piece at a time. Only protection is replacing chicken wire with 1/2 inch hardware cloth.
