My broody hen is due to hatch chicks while we are on vacation. Can or should I make a temp coop inside the big one? To separate mom and babies? Can chicks drink out of a nipple? Does mom need access to the outdoors, if she has water and food? I can post pictures, if it helps.
At least once a week I have to take something out of the beak of one of them. Silicone, old balloon, you name it. I don't even know where they get this stuff. It's like having 9 toddlers running around. I would encourage them to catch and eat mice however.
Hi, my name's Bill and my wife and I have recently decided to get chickens. We have 3 silkies, 2 buff Orpington, 2 black austrolorps, & 2 araunacas. Silkies are about 6-8 weeks old now, rest are 4 weeks. Building the coop and run ourselves from online plans. Love watching chicken TV.
