Utter Quail Newbie - Hatching Questions!

Final Update on this Hatch: 4 made it, 1 was too weak to get out of his own shell (he pipped it and began to unzip it but didn't get out), but I helped him (I know, I know) and he lived 3 days. 1 was fully formed in shell but failed to hatch. 1 egg was entirely empty (just air). 5 were yolks (no...

Utter Quail Newbie - Hatching Questions!

4 have made it out! We are officially on Day 17. :) I'm not sure that anymore will hatch - they aren't wiggly beans like these were. How long can I leave the little ones in there before I give in and pull them out to be fed/watered?

Utter Quail Newbie - Hatching Questions!

Utter Quail Newbie - Hatching Questions!

I bought a Mini Advance from Brinsea and have the small egg insert. I set it up to 99.6F (37.6C), filled one of the water pots (just one or both?), put it on automatic turning every 45 minutes (should it be more or less?) at egg size 5. I tried to point them small end down, but they don't seem...

    Anyone with Blue Swedish ducks?

Thanks so much for chiming in! I don't mind having less eggs and 150 a year is plenty for me! Heck..100 is plenty! LOL It'll be nice to have variety (with chicken and duck eggs). Can't wait to get the enclosure done and order my babies!

    Anyone with Blue Swedish ducks?

I'm looking at different duck breeds and so far like what I've read about them. I'm wanting an attractive bird that can be dual purpose for meat and eggs. Just wondering what your experiences with them have been. Are they natural brooders?

    Hello from Missouri!

I've joined this forum and BackYardHerds after lurking around for awhile. Both sites are wonderful! My husband, our son, and I live in the Missouri Ozarks. We currently have only fruit trees, a vegetable garden, rabbits, and dogs but have plans to add ducks, chickens, and goats soon. Who...
