    Carribean Fine Play Sand

Thank you so much. We are doing our after snow clean up now, so will be using the BBQ pit ... I'll mix the ash with some potting soil. Where we are the 'dirt' is more clayish so soil added is necessary to grow anything very well, and probably a good idea for the babies!

    Ok for dust bath?

Okay so a fine sand is not so good ... but we do have a bbq pit in teh yard. We're not allowed ot have a fire pit where I live so we don't ... we made it 38 inches and bought a grate to cook on ... voila, bbq pit LOL I can burn wood to make a nice dust bath out of wood ash.

    Carribean Fine Play Sand

Does the Ash bath have to be ash? We have a huge amount of this baby fine white Caribbean play sand ... has anyone had any experience with this type of sand, or is that even a thing to substitute for ash? Oh yes ... we have added to our flock and I'll be posting photos as soon as I can. We...

My husband has actually drawn up plans to expend the run area out another 6 by 10 feet. Moving the door to the side and adding a small shade area and tower. Along with the feeder set up. i agree, they need MORE room to play.

When my family sat down to decide where to put the initial house and run ... they had to keep in mind I am disabled, so it's against the house just outside the door. The yard needs help (straightening) but we will complete that during the next week. I wondered how to teach them to go inside...

I mentioned the suggestion for the coop and he's going to cover the run area to give them more room to roam. The vet actually does do chickens, she was raised on a poultry farm in central Michigan. Her training is farm specific, but does domestic as well. We met her prior to bringing the...

I absolutely am not ever offended by any comments and suggestions. I actually appreciate them as this is our first time with chickens, so I actually look forward to the help. There is a window I leave cracked at night. They have never touched their food at night that I've noticed so far...

Good morning. Okay, our city has a vet that does house visits for those that have 'unusual' pets (like our chickens and Fred, our Savanah). She visited us yesterday to see our birds. We seem to be the first and only ones in our town with chickens. The vet (Tish) is a 'farm/exotic" animal...

Right now, they seem quite content to remain in their run. But there's much to clean in the yard. Once it's all done, they will be able to range more freely. Last night they went into the house on their own!!

My daughter named one Lollipop. The others haven't shown us who they are as yet. They will have access to the yard during the day. I have a tarp to cover the run area. The plans we used (Dimensions) were stated for 7 to 10 birds. The coop is on a solid area, on the patio.

We moved all six of our feathery family to their new home today. The coop was inspected and found to be in wonderful shape. We are leaving them to find their way around and do their thing.

Okay I have two pumpkins ... My chicks are about 7 weeks old. They have had corn and cantelope. Should I just cut the pumpkin in half and set it in there or carve holes and do it that way?
