I think they are just about done .... total count so far is 12 and one making faint noises in the shell. I have 7 that have no activity. How long should I leave the 7 in the bator just in case?
MissPrissy; I like your idea about using the light dimmer for constant heat and ... you can get...
Hey guys and chicks! I have 4 out of their shells and about 5 more that have piped. When do I take the little bitties out for food and water? Do I do it now , or wait until I am sure all the hatching is over with?
Thanks Missprissy;
This morning I have had several more to pip their shells. I started hatching 22 eggs. I really don't know how many will make it. What is a usual percentage that make it in an incubator?
Hi folks;
I am on day 20 and the chicks are starting to peck at the shells ... so far I have about 5 that seem active.
My 'chick-a-bator' seems to be working great. If you will rember, I installed the turning cranks so that I wouldn't have to keep opening the top of the incubator. This has...
Hey there Nospringchick;
I have 6 black sex-links
6 Buff Orfingtons
9 Domineckers
The turning rods work like a dream. I just need to work out my temperature issues. I hope that I am ok .... Not sure about the size of the water weasle that I have.
Hi MissPrissy;
This morning my temps are swinging from 97.5 to 100.9, I know that there are two different sizes of water weasles. The one I am using is about 4 1/2inches in length. and about the size of a small egg in diameter. I knnow that the small one is usually used for quail and other eggs...
I may need a little help. My Chick-a-bator was holding an internal temp on the water weasle between 99.1 and 100.1 and when I put the eggs in the incubator , I left them for about an hour and went back and checked the temp was at 101.5. I instantly lowered the thermostat a little. I am going to...
Hi MissPrissy;
Can't they just roost on the rods? .... hey, wait a minute, they're just babies :o . If you look close at the pictures you will notice 2 rods running the opposite direction of the cranks. These rods support a piece of hardware cloth suspended about 1/4" inch below the turning...
Hey there Country Chick!
I have treid out the little cranks. It takes about 10 turns to completely roll the egg one revolution, 5 turns to go a half. This incubator will hatch 22 eggs at a time. You just lay the eggs on the rods four in a line. The last row will only hold 2 because of the fan...
Hi all;
Please excuse the name .... that could have come from an unsuccessful attempt to hatch eggs :o. I have been monitoring this thread and have built an incubator and possibly solved the turning challange. I also incorporated a water tube and pan so that once the eggs are in, you won't have...
