    The birds do not smell at all but I clean the cage floors every day at put down fresh sugar cane straw. I would like to remove the leg bands but I do not know how.

    Its ok to be upset about losing chics coz they r so cute but it's not ok to blame yourself and mourn. A lot of chics die in the wild too. Do your best to find out what happened and move on.
