Was wondering if the tiny slightly wriggly things in my chickens poop was worms ?? And Yep this is exactly what I’ve just seen!

    Favus?

Thanks @Shadrack I’ve been using disposable gloves when putting anti fungal cream on her comb for the last 3 days. Today it looked a lot more like the skin on her comb is peeling and the swelling has gone down now, and I can see that it is only on the top side of her comb (it flops over)...

    Favus?

Thanks so much @Wyorp Rock yep, she’s doing ok 🤞 just don’t want to miss anything that will jeopardise that. Have applied the anti fungal cream again this morning, and have left her happily munching through her breakfast! Hopefully @Shadrack will chirp in too, I see they are in Bristol, so...

    Favus?

I obviously want this to be anything but Favus! (have applied the anti fungal cream today however) am I clutching at straws to wonder whether, as a result of the recent scorching sun in the UK, that this might be sunburn on her comb? This summer would be the first time she’s been exposed to the...

    Favus?

I’ll carry on with the plan to put the fungal cream on her then and keep an eye on the others. Thanks again.

    Favus?

Hello @Wyorp Rock here she is this morning. She’s an ex-batt hen I’ve had her for 8 weeks. She sustained some peck scratches on her comb from the initial pecking order squabbles between the 3 ex batts I got together. She’s always been pale, her comb has shrunk as expected but she’s left with...

Hi Abarnangh, how did you get on with your chickens comb? I’m worried one of my hens has something similar looking on her comb. Thanks

6 year old RIR, no eggs so far this year

Thank you #HollowOfWisps i was wondering whether that is what was happening. She's top of the pecking order, so would make sense that she still wants to be in on the nest box action! 😊 Thanks for the reassurance, she's my last remaining hen from my very first flock, so she's a favourite. I'll...

6 year old RIR, no eggs so far this year

Hi Everyone Margo is my 6 year old Rhode Island Red - I've had her 5 years and the lady I adopted her from said she was around 12-18 months old then. She's as sassy as they come and has always laid well. She was definitely slowing down last year laying one egg a week on average I'd say, but...

    Chicken massacre this morning 😔

Oh I so feel for you 😔 7am may be a little early, where are you? I’m in the UK similarly had our first fox attack yesterday - kept chickens for coming on 5 years now. This is the first summer I’ve had the auto door (set for 6am, light at 5am here in June/july) I’ve got a camera set up so I keep...

Comment by 'Cheshire Chickens' in article 'Blood on a Chicken Eggshell'

I always come to our little community here if I’ve got any questions or concerns, and once again you all put my mind at ease! 😘 I have an older hen (5yrs young) Margo in my small flock, and she has just started to get back in the swing again after a winter break. She is laying every 3 days or so...

    Pale winter comb? Frostbite?

I like the idea of the sweeter heater, I’ll have to Google it. Fingers crossed 🤞 they both make it through the winter and to sunnier and warmer spring days.

    Pale winter comb? Frostbite?

How's your comet doing? My RIR Margo (5 years old) often has a pale dry comb in the winter when she's on an egg break. It always worries me, she's not young and she's a big girl, so heart/liver problems are always a concern. She's always been fine though. Its got down to -6 degrees C here...

15 month old Delaware rooster has lost is tongue. How? What? Trouble breathing. Emergency

😂🤣 I've obviously had too much practice in tube feeding, antibiotic 💊 giving and mouth canker checks with my flock! 🙄😊

I think that’s normal. My chickens roof of their mouth look like that, odd I know but pretty normal. Hope he’s still on the mend.
