@coach @RoyalChick so the consensus is 1ml is correct? It's for bumblefoot, only supposed to give for 3 days so not a chronic condition. I have a ml syringe so im OK there, it just seemed like a lot to me. The vet is off today or I would have clarified.
To clarify i had 2 questions. 1. What would be the correct dose? 2. Is anyone familiar with the syringe that comes with the medicine and if that translates to chicken weight.
I know this has been asked before and yes I have gone through the other threads discussing the same question and my dumbass is still not comprehending the math. I have a 3.8lb chicken who was prescribed meloxicam. My vet says to give 1ml but I feel like that is way too much. I think she was...
I posted here the other day asking about combing antibiotics, fenbendazole treatment and corid and the possible harm of doing all at once. The consensus was it was fine. I started the corid a few days ago, after the antibiotics since they both had to go into water. Today is day 3 of the corid...
I can't put them together because the antibiotics are in the water so I can't put the corid in the water in with the antibiotics. If no wait is needed I'll start the corid once the antibiotics are done.
All but 3 of my chickens ended up with bumblefoot, long story short there was a Brad nail sticking out of their ramp, caught it early thankfully. Vet has them on amoxicillin in the water and they have about 3 more days of that. Fecal test came back today positive for Capillaries and coccidia. Im...
@eggcessshe just laid a lash egg and is still puffed up and lethargic so I would like to try antibiotics. The vet is out for the holiday so all I have on hand is doxy-tyl powder. I know generally you mix with water but she won't drink it. Do you happen to know if there's a way to dose it out so...
I have a hen who presented with diarrhea and puffed up/lethargic/hiding in corner yesterday. Totally fine the day before. She is still eating and drinking but very little. No mites, crop is good, belly not squishy. Not egg bound, I checked. She's about 5 years old, doesn't really lay anymore. No...
Hen was about a year, rooster is roughly 2. He's a very large cochin who likes to rooster high, sometimes he hurts himself when he jumps down, which was initially my first thought until the hen started doing the same. He can walk and even run but seems stiff and mostly takes a few steps and then...
Yes, I use the safeguard paste for this reason. I put it at the front of their beak and let them
Hen died. Rooster 'looks/sounds' good but still takes a few steps and sits. He can walk/run if he feels threatened but looks stiff doing it.
They were eating their feed, the rooster still is somewhat, the hen has not once this started. I'll also add no mites and they were looked over by a vet and given a good bill of health (minus the worms) a few weeks ago. It's also been 100 degrees here so they have been free ranging so they can...
Can deworming cause vitamin deficiency?
My chickens were diagnosed with threadworms last month. They initially were treated with 5 consecutive days of safegaurd paste. I gave the second dose a few days ago. 2 days after the second dose I noticed both my rooster and a hen not wanting to walk...
I apologize for having to ask this because I know it's been asked at nauseum, but there never seems to be a consistent answer. Possibly because it's personal preference? Fenbendazole paste, what is the egg withdrawl time? I known there is no egg withdrawl with Fenbendazole Aquasol, this is in...
@dawg53 Sorry, just want to make sure I'm following. My vet told me dose once and then repeat in 10-14 days so I'm trying to nail this down since apparently maybe thats not correct. I do generally deworm every spring and fall.
I also believe at least one chicken has had them for quite some...
Thank you for the information. Is there a reason why not to repeat in 10 - 14 days? Everywhere else I look says you would need to repeat. Will 5 consecutive days (which I've been doing) eradicate any eggs/worms that could remain in the feces? Would it hurt to repeat? I don't want to harm the...
My chickens were just diagnosed with threadworms. When I worm I usually use the safegaurd equine paste, pea sized amount, repeat in 10 days. This is also what my vet recommended for the threadworms. Should I be giving the paste 5 days consecutively or is the above recommendation for the goat...
