Apparently I got put in Facebook jail on the BYC page for posting a picture of a glass chick drinker bottom from the 1920s. No comments for 24 hours.
So glass is offensive? It was on topic
I've been losing weight since we added more beans to the diet.
Bean salad for dinner tonight. Kidney beans, chick peas, lima beans, corn, half a red onion, sliced cucumber, mozzerella balls, pickled banana peppers, kalamata olives, and some Italian dressing mixed through.
Filling and it only...
The ER medics still make me laugh from that visit. They didn't believe me until I showed the tooth I managed to get out, then the xray. The triage medic freaked about rabies risk.
I always have something weird when I end up at Madigan. Skinned my eyeball once and tried to remove my pinky last time.
I do because hubby hounds me about flip flops after the rat bite. I absolutely will stomp rats instinctively. If you don't get them far enough they can twist around and bite your foot. He doesn't want another trip to the ER to cut out a rat tooth because I was only able to pull one of them.
I was going to use it for tea on those days I just can't breathe well. I get a few a year.
It does have side effects and can lower blood sugar erratically.
For eyes it's been used for conjunctivitis or anything that makes eyes goopy. Steep it in the hot water, then bring back to a boil for 30...
It's a medicinal traditionally use for respiratory issues and as an eye rinse. Hence the common name. Also good for an after sun skin rinse to help prevent sun damage.
Anything for the eyes needs to be sterile. That's easy enough to do with boiling.
It's a small plant
I found a patch of eyebright yesterday evening. I'll mark the spot for no spring mowing. I've been getting more and more diversity in the front yard meadow area.
Probably about an acre of what I mow now gets patches to allow certain herbs to increase. I only mow when it gets too dry in summer...
I had a bantam cochin who had to have been fertilizing eggs at before 7 weeks because I'd hatched silkie eggs and got cross breed chicks. He was the only non-silkie
Finished fixing our back door today. Fix is stronger than how the jam was previously. Replaced the wood and sank screws deep into the framing.
We kind of had to break the frame on it to get it open as a piece of metal from the deadbolt frame caught on the metal strip we had for a strike plate...
Don't want it air tight. Some people use clear shower curtain liners. It also has the benefit of making it warmer inside.
See how yours deal with your setup and add more side cover as needed. Id put some on the west side where the rain usually blows in
I'm an hour south of Seattle.
Make sure you have a coop/run with sides for silkies. They will stand in the rain. I wrap greenhouse tarps around my runs in September before the rain really comes back. I don't advocate for heaters in coops because chickens create a lot of dust and it can catch...
