Just curious if everyone names your chickens? I've had mine about 2 months now, I think I have their personalities figured out. Having a tough time coming up with names. My daughter named my barred rock, Oreo, of course. (Daughter is 24 yrs old, lol) I have 1 red cross who is very unsure, not...
I got mine about 4 weeks ago from Townline (4 red cross, 2 barred rock and 2 bsl, although I'm thinking I have 3 bsl and 1 barred rock) and they are doing great. Wanting out of the brooder, need to finish up the coop first ;)
@mrshaggie810 I was just worried because they were only 2 days old when I picked them up. I have chicken wire over the brooder right now. I have 4 red cross, 2 barred rock and 2 black sexlink. They have learned the "shake" of the treat bag, lol. I just wanted to be able to hold them or not...
I have 8 chicks in a brooder in my barn, I just went out to clean the brooder and had 1 fly up and perch on the side of the brooder. I'm kinda freaking out because if they get out I have no idea how I would catch them. They were "pullets" when I got them 2 weeks ago. They are starting to get...
I have 4 Red Cross, 2 Black Sexlink and 2 Barred Rock. (I think, lol) I know the Red Crosses are right but the other 4, the gentleman told me when I picked them up that he had ordered Barred Rock also and couldn't tell the difference between them and the Black Sexlink so I had to just kind of...
This is probably a silly question but is there a difference between Red Sexlink and Red Cross? If so what is it and do Red Cross lay as many eggs as the Sexlink? Thanks in advance.
Thanks, I just called on them and turns out they are 6 days old, so will I still need a brooder for them? I was totally preparing for older pullets that I could just put in the coop but now I have to change gears and focus on either getting the 6 day olds or day old chicks. Crap.
Hi everyone. Been MIA from the site for awhile, been super busy trying to get the yard cleaned up (even in this frozen crap) Got my coop almost built, decided to go with pullets instead of chicks. My question to all of you is, while it is still chilly out and chillier at night, should I put a...
Man, spring needs to get here like now!! Hubby told me yesterday he is going to build me a temporary coop in our barn. I didn't really want to keep the chicks in the house (basement) for 8 weeks so thankful that he is willing to do that much for me. Won't have to worry about the critters. How...
