Hatching Mille Fleur & Silkie Eggs With Broody Hen

Hi! I have a broody hen sitting on 8 bantam eggs ( since 06/1) in her own separate chicken tractor. I've been able to observe her closely and she hasn't left the nest for an extended period of time. Today would be day 20 and I'm not hearing any pipping from the nest. Should I pick her up and see...

Got my chicks 8/3. When should I expect them to start laying?

I have barred rocks, Easter eggers, olive eggers (Easter Eggers crossed with either a Barnevelder or a Welsummer) , and blue stars ( Blue Andalusian and a Barred Rock crossed). Are you familiar with any of those breeds?

We’re currently working on building our coop. I’m happy we decided to built it and customize it ourselves. We still have a lot to do like adding more ventilation and building and attaching the run. Oh and predator proofing! But I think the girls are going to love it 💜

Do you have a picture of your coop set up? Thank you for the advice. We will more than likely end up building it because like you pointed out… the lack of ventilation and space.

“ This is my first time raising chicks ( never had chickens either) and I’m having a hard time deciding where to set up my brooder. August is really hot in north Texas and I’d prefer to keep them in the garage or outside. I considered a spare bedroom but I’m worried about the dust due to one of...

I’ve been trying to decide if I want to keep them in the garage, outside on our patio, or in a spare bedroom. I’m afraid it’s going to be in the upper 90s- 100 degrees outside ( I’m in north Texas) What would you suggest using? I’ve seen plastic bins, pins, dog cages, galvanized metal tubs… I...
