Frost Bitten Feet? Or Something MUCH worse!!!

Thanks, I figured that was the case. After her accident I took her inside and put electrolyte on her water. We didn’t have any nutridrench on hand...:( Good news she is still alive. She moved from sitting to standing but still has her head tucked under her feathers. I got her go drink some water...

Frost Bitten Feet? Or Something MUCH worse!!!

I’m glad everyone thinks it’s feather pecked... my poor little white hen crystal seems to be waiting to die. Also I totally forgot to include the important backstory. About three days ago I found crystal pretty much upside down wedge between two bords and we got her out and she seemed fine...

Frost Bitten Feet? Or Something MUCH worse!!!

They are both in the house and I have tried to coax the splash Chochin hen into drinking and I’m trying to give electrolytes. The rooster with the foot and back issue is very vibrant and eating/drinking. After doing brief research on articular grout I don’t think it’s the case. It came on so...

Frost Bitten Feet? Or Something MUCH worse!!!

UPDATE: things are really really really really bad. I just went into the coop and found the splash Chochin laying on her side practically dead!!! I’ve tried raising her body temp but she is now just standing with her head talked into her feathers. IDK what to do she won’t eat or drink!!!

Frost Bitten Feet? Or Something MUCH worse!!!

I have 12 4 month old chickens that I keep seperate from my older chickens. Pretty much in a huge coop of their own. Anyway two days ago I noticed my 4 month old golden laced chochin cokeral had swollen feet and was walking primarily on the back of his hocks all tipsy. My first thought was very...

    Rabbit Thread

Good news and bad news. Good news, I took her to the vet and had an X-ray. Leg is broken but will heal by itself in 6 weeks. Really bad news...(but suspected) she has snuffles. The vet gave me an antibiotic for treatment, but snuffles is hard to cure and highly contagious. This means that my...

    Molting or bullying?

Hey, Welcome to BYC :welcome!!!! She could be molting very hard, or she may have an external parasite. It is hard to tell by the picture, but from my personal expierence when chickens are infected with mites they lose feathers by their head and their skin tends to be irritated and red. Again, a...

    Rabbit Thread

Update: She is doing really good. She is fully eating and drinking; also, she is isolated in a small area to keep her from moving around. Upon further examination the bone is intact and she seems to be in no pain. The odd thing is the foot is limp and it can go in odd directions. Would a splint...

    Rabbit Thread

So.... I just brought home a rabbit (Chinchilla Mini Satin-to be exact) and it was extremely skittish. Due to her nerves she jumped around a ton and landed wrong on her back foot. Her hind foot is completely limp by the hock and it seems as if her foot is totally snapped by the bone. Im at a...

    New chicks

Chochin chicks always have fluffy feet, sometimes when their younger their feathery feet aren’t as apparent. Here’s a picture of one of my chochin chicks. Note the fluffy feet. However other breeds like bramhas and silkies have feathery feet too. Chochins have single combs so that can be a...

4 Chochin Cockerels 7 WK in MT

Hey, I have 4 chochin male chicks that I’m selling for $2 per chick. I have two golden laced, one splash, and the odd ball is one barred rock bantam. I want them to go to good homes. Ideally used for show birds or breeding stock. If you are worried about aggression in them when they get older...

Breed and Gender Help for 4 week chicks!

For gender with bantams are you looking for the same signs that you look for in standard chickens? I was thinking that both the EE and Black rose comb are girls because they have all their feathering and straight tails.

Breed and Gender Help for 4 week chicks!

Hey, thanks for their replies. I definitely agree with the breeds. Gender is so how. Slightly red comb but has feathers. With bantams is it different?? Also here is the other bantam. My phone is loading everything really slow so I’m doing one picture at a time. Lol

Breed and Gender Help for 4 week chicks!

Hey, I have 17 4 week old chicks , but I’ve been able to discover the gender (more then likely hen or roo etc) of all but 6 chicks. I have 3 bantams that I have no clue what they are, and I have 3 barred chochins but I don’t know their gender. (Also gender suggestions in the bantams would be...
