Sorry about the loss of your pretty little pullet. I am preparing to move house and I'm giving away all my chickens. It has been harder on me than I anticipated. :(

Happy birthday! I wouldn't worry about the gobbled egg if you are supplementing with oyster shell and it doesn't happen regularly. The first time I discovered my chickens had eaten an egg I was so disappointed! But since then that only has happened when an egg is broken by accident.

That's great. People are usually surprised when I tell them which chickens lay which eggs. The only ones that I can't distinguish are a few of my Easter Eggers. I am prayin for rain on the west coast. We need it here in Idaho, we need it where you live and we need it in my hometown Wenatchee...

I love it!!! I have only bought already hatched chicks. I would love to observe a mother hen with her chick! Chicken behavior is so interesting. I have Easter Eggers and every once in a while I will spot one chicken pulling bits of debris out of another one's beard. The one on the receiving end...

Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Working... Last week was vacay and I'm back at work meeting with mental health client. Good for you for doing the repair! I have these grand ideas to make improvements, but somehow in real life the solution is 3-10 times more challenging then it was in my head. :)

That's so cool that the babies get to get in the water right away. I'm so jealous, I have always wanted a duckling. They are sooooo fluffy! Okay, enough of my schoolgirl gushings...

3 weeks old, can anyone sex/breed reconize these guys?

Oh, I just saw your description at the top, Sultans? The look great. Did you get a hatchery "rare breeds" deal. Maybe if you had the shared the list that they may have included, people could make better guesses. They don't like my typical backyard breeds. How exciting for you. :)

3 weeks old, can anyone sex/breed reconize these guys?

I think the light rust-colored one looks like a silky. I would say at least one of the reddish ones looks like a boy from the way the comb is growing. The ones with the little top knots are adorable, but I don't what they are!
