How much did you spend on feed this week?

Goodness! I thought my horse was expensive, but he only cost me two bags of grain per month for most of the year. What eats me up is the hay for the other 4 months. Can I ask? What do you do with all those chickens? Eggs? Meat? Just a hobby?

This is awesome! I am getting two baby goats on October 2nd and was trying to decide how to build their enclosure. Hope you don't mind, but I am borrowing your plan. It is inexpensive and looks good, just my cup of tea.

Do you use homemade laundry detergent?

I used homemade detergent for a while. It did a fine job on the clothes, but I noticed that it left a residue inside my washer. I have gone back to Gain powder. I don't use liquid soaps because of the plastic containers it comes in.

Feeding and Watering while on Vacation

Make friends with a responsible teenager in the neighborhood. His family can use the eggs and he can use the money. Always works for me, regardless of the critters that need sitting.

I would NOT want to faint in a chicken coop!

We used to let the chickens peck the sticky briars off our pants legs when we were kids. Love the comment about the hubby. Not so sure my DH thought it was as funny as I did.

Substitute for oyster shells and grit????

Growing up my mom always feed them their own eggs shells. I ask her one day recently about raising chickens and she said they raise themselves! You just need to give them a little feed and water. Sometimes I suspect we overthink things:/

You're not the only one to buy a house to make room for your critters. My DH and I just bought 33 acres so my horse can have a place to call home.
