Update tonight on my little hen: I gave her an egg today and she was interested in that. I got home tonight and I gave her another one. It's the only thing she'll eat!
I then opened another egg and mixed it with a little chick food. I'm hoping that she's getting better.
How soon should I dust...
I already do have chickens but this one I have had to separate b/c she's not happy with the others. she is a little disabled so the other chickens are just too much for her. She's my favorite little thing. I figure she can just hang with us and babysit the chicks we get out of the incubator as...
I have a friend who is going to make me my own little chicken house with attached run. This is going to be for a silky hen and any chicks we put in there.
So in the figuring I need to have this tall enough so that a heat lamp can go on top.
This coop will be outside and I live in the midwest...
Update is that I did bathe Brownie for mites and lice. She looked like she might have some but not really many.
I've continued on giving her what I've been giving her.
No real change but she's a little more active and today I saw her pick at the food and I gave her an egg which she picked at.

I have a beautiful little silky pullet who is about 6 months old. For the last two weeks she has been sleeping a lot and being anti-social. A week ago I brought her in to start giving her things to try to get her perked up. She's not worse and she's not any better. She won't eat. She won't...
I've noticed that one of my hens (Goldilocks)seemed to be having some sort of seizure or something just once in awhile.
Well I found her in the chicken coop one morning on her back. She couldn't seem to use her leg.
However with some time and seeing it happen more often it seems to be her...
I think it's a hen too. But only time will tell for sure.
Amazing story. Our Cookie, polish crested roo learned how to go up the stairs to our bedroom loft with a broken wing mind you, last night. I put him back downstairs to sleep. Then this morning he was again upstairs and came over to my...
Oh yes I talk to my chickens. They listen too. The Americauna hens talk to me too. Some of the roosters will come up and sit near when we sit outside. We have a pet Polish Crested rooster who knows his name and he's inside the house a LOT. Poor dude has had a time of it! He has a crooked jaw so...
My loudest chickens are my Americauna's. They are the funniest girls !
They talk all the time. They talk to themselves. Talk to their buddies. They talk to me. Talk when they get excited. Talk when gonna lay an egg.
If they were humans they would be the equivalent of a group of teenage girls...
As a mother of a 16 yr old my stomach was sick seeing this. No words can express how sad and sorry for anyone losing a child. HUGS to this family during their sorrowful time.
I think all this will depend on what kind of chickens you get.
Based on my chickens I could put a lot of chickens in this area. lol
Build UP... all my chickens roost together on top of my boxes and shelves. I re-used a shed that had a huge deep freeze in it. We can't move that sucker! I...
