    Hay or Pine Shavings

deep litter method is baswicly just adding more and more bedding to the floor, allwoing you to go longer between cleans etc. dont think you can do it in a tractor, as the location will keep moving?

    Hay or Pine Shavings

I like straw cost effective and easy cleanup most people swear by shavings.. But I use the deep litter method so straw, and and pretty much anything I find (leaves, corn husks.. Etc.) are used Sent from my HTC Ruby using Tapatalk 2

    Best place to keep food/water?

We keep ours in the coop.. they can come and go as they please through out the day (free ranged for now) building a run. I find it helps keep the birds closer, they tend to come back for a drink every now and then.

ideas for a shed conversion please

I covnerted my shed to a coop last year. I added a lot of windows, and some nest box (just screwed milk crates to wall) and a 2X4 roost.. I use straw for the bedding.. works great, and is cost effective. shavings cost an arm and a leg to use. straw is around $2.50 a bale.. so it keeps cost down.

The shed is here.... OMG NOW WHAT!

duno if it's been brought up or not, but have no floor, and just use the DLM method. works great on a dirt floor, and allows the chickes to forage while in the coop as well... - just my .5 cents

was planning on 10-15 birds.. (layers) and in the spring another 10 meat birds.. thinking of building and "addition" for them. unless I have room in my shed/coop. my birds will be free range till spring - probably as cost of mesh is too much for right now.. save and get a couple bundles and...

I understand that 1 bird needs 3-4 square feet.. I have a shed wich i am converting to a coop that is about 8'X9' it is also 7' tall.. what I'm wondering is would the height make a difference? as I would have lots of room for roosts etc.? I'm also worried that it is a large area and as being in...
