Okay, so i have 13 hens. 21 weeks old! they have been some laying eggs for about 4 weeks now. i am now getting on average 7 eggs a day. but the last 3 days i get my usual 7 but on the floor of the coop under the roosting bar is a busted shell-less egg (or Jelly Egg as i used to call it growing...
so just observation? do they usually lay at a certain time for you to watch them? i ask because mine seem to lay at different times sometimes really early in the morning sometimes around noon and sometimes late afternoon. is that just a new layer thing?
hi, so I have a couple of 19 week old hands that have started laying eggs. I’m getting about three a day from my girls. I have a total of 13 chickens and they are doing so amazing laying them in the boxes and everything but I have a big question…. I’ve seen where a lot of people will post about...
I just got a rooster from one of my good friends who had one too many he was the Beta rooster and tonight was his first night in their pen. since allowing him with the others, he does this little squat and foot shuffle. I haven’t had a rooster before, so I’m just wondering if this is a mating...
this is a great reply! thank you so much! and yes Beth and jolene were in the same bin and because of the difference in the appearance i figured beth had a secret 😅
*photo of jolene her bin mate!*
thank you for
thank you so much for this explanation! this was kinda what i was looking for! out of curiosity, is it normal for the tail to “ swoop “ like that? (i haven’t seen any personally that do that)
this chicken (Beth- 15 weeks old) has given me rooster vibes sine it was a itty bitty chick. i knew from the jump that this one was a hen but i just can’t understand why she/ he is not like the others! Beth has always been larger than the others (all the same age), weighted twice as much, feet...
hey! thank you so much! sorry on the delayed response 😅 i honestly didn’t realize you can go to the next “page” of comments thank you so much! i have a good mix! BSL, RIR, Black Australorp, Ameraucana!
yeah definitely crowing but i agree that i don’t know of one that stands out to me. i thought i must be missing something but based on the responses i am just gonna assume for now my neighbors rooster escaped the run and keep a close eye on any suspicious activity and sounds 😅
thank you everyone for the help! all the pics are (even the more recent responses) are a little old. i’m gonna just assume for now they are all hens (and keep an eye out for any chickens i see that might have escaped my neighbors run) and will post some updates with new pics if i seen anything...
i agree these i’m thinking it might be one of my australorp chickens so here are a few extra pics of them. i have gotta good at guessing hen or too for other peoples chickens but mine are driving me nuts 😆
