Darn it! Here comes the human again. It's like she KNOWS when we are going to try to cross the road. Ok, now act natural. We're just normal chickens, just doing normal chicken things......
Not sure who this question was aimed towards, but I figured I would throw my answer in the ring lol! My chickens have always preferred the crumble over pellets anyway, so if I mess up and grab a bag of pellets, they act like they are starving and follow me around for treats even more than...
My chickens pick out the seeds etc and leave all of the pellets strewn around on the ground. It's a great idea in theory, but a waste of money in reality.
I have a week old silkie chick that I noticed has a bit of labored breathing, not terribly though. She shakes her head and scratches at her beak so I thought something was in her nostril but I noticed her beak was cracked below the skin. Could that be why she's breathing heavier? The rest of the...
Oh boy! Well that explains a lot lmao! I wasn't expecting to get a mallard since they weren't included in the "mixed duck assortment" on the hatchery description page. That's why I assumed rouen. I also assumed at first that my black duck must be a black runner because it was the only one that...
My silkie rooster Marshmallow is my EVERYTHING!!!! He is the sweetest boy in the world! I pick him up and kiss him on his cheek and he makes kissing noises back at me :love
I got 2 asst ducklings from TSC on March 16th which are the little rouen and the cayuga. The other much larger rouen and the pekin(I'm assuming?) were brought home April 5th. The little rouen is female, she is super loud and quacks all the time and is in charge of everyone lol. But why is she so...
I am still chugging along! I've been in radiology technologist school for the last 2 years and just graduated so I finally have more time to spend with my chickens again. And of course that means we had to get some ducks too lol!
Well, he just passed away in my arms. In the interest of science, I cut off the tumor or whatever it was. It was not connected to any of the tissue under the skin. It was definitely NOT an abscess. It was a solid mass with blood supply. So I'm just going to say tumor. I still want to deworm my...
I really wouldn't think it would be a tumor in such a young boy, but of course that's a possibility. There was some white thick material that I cleaned out but it was very minimal. I've dealt with a lot of abscesses in various animals and also dealt with multiple feather cysts in canaries. This...
Here's after I cleaned it. Nothing squeezed out, it's still super hard. I packed it with neosporin and he's currently hanging out in my livingroom. Poor guy. He's miserable. Won't even eat mealworms. I've got water with electrolytes for him, anything else you suggest to try?
Thank you! I actually looked at that thread BEFORE I found the lump, but hadn't actually read through everything to see how it resolved. I'm glad you reminded me to go check!!! I'm about to go soak him now so hopefully he will be ok.
It’s definitely not ascites. There was no swelling or fluid, just this rock hard scabbed up looking lump. It was on his lower abdomen. Not near the vent area. I can’t figure out how to describe it right lol. I’m going to give him a warm soak tomorrow and see what I can do once it’s softened up...
