I have two older girls, and I recently got a flock of pullets because I thought they needed to have more to be healthy (mentally), so I ended up buying 7 pullets, all around 14 weeks of age. They’re disease free, gone through their quarantine and they’re accustomed to the new coop.
I’m not sure...
I’ll look into it. Lately, the sites I’ve checked for them here, have them for next year now. Im hoping Moyers has pullets at this point. I haven’t found anyone else here that has pullets
I’m trying to currently find friends for my two birds. Recently, their third member died and I went down to two remaining birds.
I live in PA, and was hoping to find a place that sells pullets still? I’m struggling to find a place still selling pullets for this year. Does anyone know of any...
I’m going to buy some D3 then! I have her half a tums, so I’ll be giving the other half later today. I did syringe feed her electrolytes (that have D3) but I’ll get the pills then.
As for her crop: I’ll double check then, but today when I lifted her up, crop felt empty. So it’s a good sign she...
I did actually give her calcium (tums) and electrolytes (I didnt have vitamin d alone specifically, but a pack of electrolytes for chickens). Oyster shells are already offered.
No egg pictures, unfortunately but it was huge and had calcium deposits on it. I would give a poop picture, but today...
1) What type of bird , age and weight (does the chicken seem or feel lighter or thinner than the others.)
Red Sex link, nearly 3. She doesn’t feel heavy, lighter then the others but bigger looking.
2) What is the behavior, exactly.
Puffed up, not a crouch but puffed. Won’t eat/won’t eat much...
I’m starting to get worried! I don’t know how she died, and my family members didn’t want to necropsy so I couldn’t, but I wanted peace of mind, even if it’s just being told a possibility
My 3 year old Red Sex link had lethargy, she was puffed up like a circle, but not SQUATTING, so I didn’t...
1. 200 square feet of space.
2.She and 3 others are laying. 1 is currently not I think. She's not Panini though. I'm suspecting Karen, another bird, is the one not laying but I know Panini is
3. Demor (I think that's right) brand of feed with 3 cups of food in the feeder at any time
4. They...
They’re 24 weeks old and this is the little culprit. She’s normally pretty calm, it’s Greta (the one in the back I think) that tends to be the problem child at food time by hip checking the others.
But this time even she’s getting neck grabbed. In that pic they’re perfectly fine together...
I have 5 red sex link birds, and for the most part, they’re sweet if not a bit dopey. However, for the past 2 days, my one red sex link, Panini, started neck pulling the other 4 birds during feeding. I went out to the run to feed them snacks (crickets and berrie), and Panini started yanking on...
I'd hopefully upgrade and do eggs and hatch chicks, but I also can't actually have Roosters, so I'd have to buy eggs and then do that, but I eventually want to hatch them myself. I haven't done or thought that this time because I wanted to try pullets before I do chicks, but eventually get into...
I'm in South Central PA. The weather isn't really that bad here, I don't actually get snow much anymore. Or at least, it hasn't actually been super bad or even that cold
Hell, in my area I don't think it's gotten that hot lately. It's pretty temperate and the coldest I've think it's gotten is...
I'm currently looking at pullets instead of chicks, so they shouldn't be that big, but they aren't chicks either
And because I'm so terrible at building shit, I thought it was a go since Craigslist ones weren't panning out and because I'm not very good at building things (and because I'm legit...
Would Bantams work for it? I love them, I can't exactly get another coop currently (it might end up being just a temp coop)
But as for the run:
My current run is 10x10. It's pretty big I think, but it's also not an eglu run because I don't like the clips they have. I think it looks pretty...
Would it at least work for something temporary until I manage to get a better one? I wouldn't have gotten it, if I saw it in person before hand, but it was basically half off and you build it yourself.
So I kinda built it saw it (and it certainly felt much sturderier than a tractor supply, so...
I would return it, but unfortunately I have no means to. I paid it not from eglu the site so I got everything but I didn't actually pay for it from their site. I paid 600, so like half of the coop price (I got the 13ft extension so it'd be roughly 1300, but I didn't pay for it) Part of me...
I haven't seen bad weather yet here, but I'll keep that in mind. Where I'm from I don't think I've seen it terribly bad in years, and that's a little scary honestly (normally there's be snow? But I've literally only seen it snow once or twice this year at max and even then it's not *huge*. Maybe...
