    Oh my, I finally got my first egg today! Almost 24wk old barred rock. I'm about in tears! And she layed it in the nest box right next to the fake egg! I'm the happiest chicken mama!

    Flighty bird!

    This is exactly what I'm afraid of with my girls. I'm following to see if anyone has ideas. We did add some extra height to our fence by stapling wire to it. But some of these birds get pretty high.

    I've ordered from Mcmurray 3 times. If you order 4wk olds/ juveniles they can ship as few as ONE bird. I've done that twice. From them I have 2 barred rocks, 1 americauna, 1 black australorp and 1 buff orpington. They come fully vaccinated! So no need for medicated feed or concern of Mareks...

    Yes definitely open the capsule and mix it w something really yummy! Mine love cottage cheese mixed w bblueberries. They also LOVE coconut oil! And it's very good for them. :)

    I have 2 barred rocks, 1 americauna, 1 buff orp, 1 black australorp, 5 Silkies. And now, the Serama. I'm selling most of the Serama. I've had the most fun this spring/summer w all the babies. I'm still waiting for my first egg and my 3 big girls are over 20 weeks. The suspense is killing me!

    She is pretty! But if one of mine even thinks that sort of egg is even remotely acceptable, I'ma have a fit! Lol. SShould I be putting out the oyster shells now, even though they haven't started laying yet?
