Did anyone go to Cackle Hatchery's Fall Festival last year and are you planning on going this year? Curious, I was in the building while it was going on but short on time. Was a lot of people there.
I know several people who use the pour it on Ivermectin on their hogs but I can't get the dosage from them. I would love to be able to use it because I can't restrain the 350-400 lb sows to give them a shot.
That's so sad. I use heirloom seeds for all my vegetables, but can't find it for grains to plant for the poultry. It seems we are out of a lot of choices.
Probably not so much a money saver as having better feeds in them and knowing what is in the feeds. I have gotten some feeds from a feed company that looked like floor sweepings. If I'm eating the eggs and chickens I sure like to know what goes into them. I have gotten a lot more critical on...
My poultry all free range but I still put out layer and they get vegetables scraps as treats. They come running as soon as they hear the back door open. They love watermelon. I would seriously like to cut the cost of feed down though.
My concern would also be the side effects from GMO corn. There has been a lot of talk about how the scientists do not know what the side effects of this genetically engineered grain can do. I want to stay away from it if at all possible. Hostetlers in Buffalo, MO have a feed for chickens that...
Hostetler does not supply organic chicken feed, they have a feed that is gmo free but I was told that they did not pass the paperwork for being organic feed. Just check 3/29/2012
run your finger up the leg if you can feel a bump on the inside of the leg you most likely have roosters as this is the spur bump. With rosecombs this is the way I tell roosters when they are young.
The roo is the only one that I can see has any blue on him and it is just his tail feathers. the lacing on the breasts of both are buff colored. So are they Splash? Is the roo blue? So confused!! I really like them both, the little hen just started laying but alas I don't have an incubator.
This pair of Bantams was sold to my daughter as Blue Laced Red Wyandottes but I think they are Buff Laced Red Wyadottes even though they have blue in the tail, am I right??
Thanks for all the input. All the other roos have their tails or at least one feather sticking up, bult he didn't have anything. I knew he sure didn't look Aruacana or at least the ones I have seen. He is kinda cute, maybe he'll escape the stew pot. LOL
I bought a group of assorted chicks which were supposed to be Rhode Island Reds, Production Reds, and Red Sex Link. There is this rooster that does not look like any of the above and also he has no tail. Is he just a freak or could possibly be an Araucana?
