    roost design

    Thinking of making my roost with 2x4's. That will give my girls a flat for their feet. Is there anything wrong with doing so? It will be 3 or 4 levels high. About 4' tall for the highest level and lowest being around a foot off the floor.

    My run will be dirt and sand mixture. My coop has a solid wood floor elavted about 2 inches off the ground.

    What kind of floor should I have for my chicken run?

    I just built a 7x8 coop with a wood floor and linoleum on top. Run will be 8x12 about 6 1/2 foot tall. Concrete is expensive and wouod be an easy clean up.

    JanetS we are adding a run, and yes we will be using hardware cloth. Have it all over our current run. We have six red sex links, About 6 months old.

    Our coop build

    It's going really good! Taking my time, I've got about 30 hours in it so far. Doing all the small detailed things now. All we lack now are window covers, people door, and the door for the nesting boxes. Put thelinoleum floor in yesterday. Here's a few pics:

    No it was one of those Amish prebuilt buildings ( shed style) on skids.

    I just rememberd that when we moved here we had a 12x20 building built and I didn't have to have a permit cause we are considered an agricultural area. I have a small coop and run now just want to upgraded one last time to something sligtly larger.
