All of mine hatched, but the last few days were so nerve-wracking that I know I don't want to hatch for a while again! I can't inagine how I'd feel if most if them hadn't made it. Hope you are able to rest and recover!
Have you candled it? Are you sure it's internally pipped? If you've had problems with all of them, I'd probably make a pip for it myself at that point. But I've also only done one hatch total, so take my thoughts with a grain of salt.
...far it's pulling through. I wasn't there when it hatched, and it pulled pretty hard on its own umbilical cord. But I think the navel is closing up now. It's just sleeping a lot and seems to *maybe* be having a balance issue, but it is only 6 hours old at this point so I'm giving it a little time.
...in a rush to do anything.
Now my main dilemma is deciding if I go out for the day excursion we had planned with my mother-in-law. Because we'll be two hours away from home for most of the day. When we planned the excursion 2+ weeks ago, I didn't know chickies were going to be so late. *sigh*
@jenniferlamar70 It's completely relaxed under the heat lamp at the moment. Unfortunately, all my stuffed animals are in the attic at the moment, and I have a migraine starting (combination of the stress/anxiety of hatching, along with stupid weather systems moving through. My head HATES air...
Okay. My baby #1 that hatched has been very energetic all day long and knocking the other eggs about insanely. I just had #2 hatch, and I had to help a little tiny bit because membrane was starting to dry out. I just pried a little of the membrane apart where it was having difficulty (even in...
...the membrane, so I made sure it had a small air hole before going back to sleep. For two hours. And then I was up every two hours about on the dot. *sigh* But one more had pipped by 2 am, and by 5 am when we got up, there was a 3rd that had pipped! I candled this morning and a 4th had...
@dotknott it is in the air cell. But the starburst is only visible when candling. Wondering if the eggshell is too tough for it to get through on its own. :/
@dotknott Maybe 1/4" across from edge to edge. Hubby also said he thought he saw the egg rocking and heard scratching noises (his hearing is way better than mine).
Edit: Also, I know it may not be reliable, but I do not see ANY visible veining when I candle this one. Everyone else still has...
*sigh* okay. Just candled the eggs before (possibly) going to bed. #1 has a new fracture in the shell that I'm 99% sure was not there earlier - and it's shaped like a starburst type pattern, and not the thin crack that I know WAS there before. Could it be trying to pip through the shell and...
Mmk, well in that case, the little peak and such is where I see the most movement from the chick, but I do see SOME movement from all around the edges of the air cell when I candle. The high side is solid chick and I can't see anything but body mass there.
By 'high side' of the egg, you mean the wide end, right? In that case, yes. I am pretty sure it internally pipped somehow, because last night there was shadow beyond the defined line of the air sack, if that makes sense?
Glad to know that it drawing down is normal.
I did switch to a slightly...
...getting bigger, but #1's is really big and looks to be conforming to the shape of the chick, and I can't see a definitive beak anywhere. I *can* see it breathing, but wondering if it is malpositioned, and possibly worried about 'shrink-wrapping'. Since I don't know for sure if it's been 24...
