I'm back my chicken peeps! Had an egg go 28 days (not odd for me since the last ones went 29 as well) but this time there was no movement when we candled it. Had large bubble no peep so my son asked to do an eggtopsy... we did and decided it had somehow shrink wrapped.
Then.. movement. It was...
I had 5 go 26 to 28 days. Started with 6 but one passed after hatching. Mine were found during a bad freeze and that may have delayed them? Idk. Sorry you lost a feathered furend.
28/29 days later and I have 5 little fuzz balls from freezing eggs thanks to you all!
So, if I may ask another question... 2 yellow and 3.. uhh... multicolored? The 3 darker chicks are pecking at the 2 new yellow chicks. Is this because they are the new chicks on the block and how do I fix it...
The last 2 eggs pipped last night.... day 27/28. Only lost 1 during hatch so far (knock on wood) .
I can't thank you all enough for your wisdom and help.
UPDATE: I have 3/6 hatched and healthy... one hatched then passed, and 2 still alive (1 pipped internally).
My 3rd healthy chick had the dark shell which made it hard to keep track of progress BUT I heard it chirping so I knew it had pipped internally. When heading into the 2nd day after...
Just went to check on the big one. It wasn't breathing. Omg. Why am I so Flippin sad? I got him out and the took the other ones to the brooder box before any more pipped, cleaned out the shells quickly, shut it back down and did an eggtopsy. Big beautiful, yellow, 1/2 yolk absorbed but not...
#2 out and healthy as of 6am! 3rd pipped this morning too. 4th egg is rocking, 5th still movement and 6th, well, not seeing much bit could be a little more reserved lol.
Sure is taking awhile for them to obsorb that yolk. From pip to zip is becoming torture for me. Lol. #3 seems like a BIG...
@gimmie birdies ... brilliant. @TwoCrows Thank you for sharing and helping me through this. How long should I leave the chick in the incubator and when should I worry about the other pipped one?
CHECK ME OUT!
Made it... this one is a SPAZ and you guys say don't move the eggs but little Hyper Diaper here came out and started trying to run a marathon. Rearranged my whole incubator. Tried to get brother's and sisters out while dragging the shell behind (now not attached)
So my question...
OK. So I took a peep... and am still scatching my head.. All still alive. 2 pipped internally and of those 2, 1 had a boney shadow.. more crisp and boney looking. The other one I couldn't tell what was what... 2 other eggs had small air sacs still and 1 had an 18wk looking sac.. The other air...
Well, I am day 23 or 24. But someone said they may develop slowed due to being frozen. Eggs were moving quite a bit and have stopped or at least stopped moving as much. I didn't think I was supposed to candle during lockdown?
I know, apparently a watched egg never hatches. My incubator took a crap on me so I had to buy another one. I let it get up to temp and humidity and swapped real quick. I tried to keep them in the same position they were in. The little guys have been rolling around but air sacs don't seem much...
