Accidentally purchased meat bird, now what?

I KNOW!!! It normally takes me like 2 tries to even pick her up, and my 11 year old brother can’t even do it!🤣🤣

Accidentally purchased meat bird, now what?

I wish she could be a pet too…. She’s always been mine! I guess the main reason I was so hesitant to crate her off, or cull myself, was because she’s always had such a spunky personality, and I would kinda hate to see her go. She received the endearing title of “Fat Chick”. That has always been...

Accidentally purchased meat bird, now what?

Yes, she has been free fed chick starter/grower. I never invested in broiler feed, but she’s gotten pretty huge on what I have given her. Thank you! If the meat ends up being too tuff, we could always do a stew!

To grow cornish hens what age do I butcher and when can I give them grower?

Hello everyone, I know this is an old thread…. But I have questions. I accidentally bought a CX chick. She is 16 weeks old, and healthy. Is this too late to process? I was never planning to venture down the meat road….

Accidentally purchased meat bird, now what?

Thank you! I actually don’t know the proper time to process…. If it was supposed to be 8 weeks, than she is twice that age. Do you know what would have been the appropriate age? I guess I could always google it…

Accidentally purchased meat bird, now what?

Now, she is HUGE. Probably well past the processing date, and I don’t think I can cull a girl. What I am looking for, is you guys to tell me how much you think I can sell her for on Marketplace. She is 16 weeks old, and 14ish pounds.

Accidentally purchased meat bird, now what?

Hey y’all, In May, I bought 3 Leghorns. By the time they were 5 days old, I knew this one was different. Looks like she turned out to be Cornish Cross. You can see right here, that she is already bigger than the others: Here she is at 4 weeks old: Here she is eating across from her “Leghorn...

13-14 week old EEs - gender?

Yeah, I just went over the pics again, I think everyone is right about pullets. Even I was thinking that…. I was just saying that IF Kailcar had a boy, it would be that one.

Picture Of The Week (POW) Information & Submissions

This is Laura, a sweet 5 week old pullet. Welsummer//RIR cross. Laura is small for her age. She is an attention hungry little girlie. Hatched by a mean broody, adopted by a sweet one.🥰🥰 Definitely a favorite around here!

I guess the thing that had me concerned, was that red comb… considering that they are only 14 weeks old….

13-14 week old EEs - gender?

I’m thinking #1 is a cockerel. #2 and #3 are pullets. Warning: My Americanas and Easter Eggers don’t lay until at least 6 months old.

    Girl or boy-Leghorn

I sold a 6 week old pullet to a friend. She is going on 17 weeks now, and my friend is concerned that it’s a boy. I’m pretty convinced that it’s a girl. What do y’all think? This is the only picture she sent me:
