    Kitsap County?

Congrats on the new house! You will find that a good majority of people in and out of city limits have backyard friends. Some connect with others in the area via Facebook, I’m not 100% sure if there is a dedicated group. We are pretty helpful around here, and proud of it. You can find people...

    Kitsap County?

Howdy neighbor welcome in. I live in the same area and I have about 15 ducks. My neighbors have upward of 30 chickens. Read the rules for your specific area including HOA rules you need to abide by. Here is the rules as posted by Kitsap County...

    Can eggs move??

if you put the egg on the pointer side rather than the more rounded side it may have slipped out. Realistically this could happen on either side. Luckily the ducking will be fine! Vibrations from walking or moving around can rattle it and move it slowly overtime. Keep an eye on it to see if it...

    Can eggs move??

Do you have pictures of the incubator? Pictures of the candled eggs? Is it an automatic turning incubator and you didn’t notice? (Silly question but I got to ask) It’s a bit early for the ducks to be influencing the eggs that much.

Help! What is happening with my ducks?

3 so far. We are working on a fence but for now they are in their pen so I can monitor behavior. The vet put down one when we were there and the other passed in the car ride on the way. The toxin was absorbed before we knew what was happening and it already got in the bloodstream. There is no...

Help! What is happening with my ducks?

Took two ducks to the vet. Turns out it was a neurological toxin found in rat poison, likely from my neighbors since we don’t have any. There is nothing I can do but humanly put down the ones suffering. Thank you everyone who tried to help!

Help! What is happening with my ducks?

No algae in the pond that I can tell, but some green in their pool. I clean the pool often and scrub it well. It’s extremely ventilated, plus I have been leaving the doors open for extra air. Yes, shade is provided in many ways. The pond is just down a little hill. The walk up and down...

    Hatched duck dragging leg

Definitely but be careful. You may not want to do this depending on your experience with hatchlings, but you can CAREFULLY and SLOWLY extend its leg outward and inward in a physical therapy type exercise. That will increase blood flow and can help a great deal, but it can hurt a great deal too...

Help! What is happening with my ducks?

Thank you so much for your help. I have separated the duck that ended up on its back and is seizing the most. I don’t think it’s going to make it. I can’t get a vet out in my area who does ducks. I appreciate your response:)

    Hatched duck dragging leg

Well the cuddling is great because the hurt one will learn from the healthy ones. It copies healthy behavior. Time will tell. If it gets worse try to separate it completely. Individual care may be a last resort. With it moving, dont let it get on top a sibling as it may stumble over it and hurt...

    Hatched duck dragging leg

Tuck his leg under him in the position it’s natural in. Looks to me like it grew differently in the egg than it was supposed to. You can support his head with a ball of paper towel to help the neck. He doesn’t look very well off. It’s a waiting game to see if he will make it. In the meantime try...
