Be careful with that, the existing groups can gang up on the newbie. I had that issue and even tried a one-to-one introduction in a large run but ended up having to separate her again. The new silkie is housed by herself (partially due to broody reasons), but they mostly ignore each other in a...
I suppose that could be possibility. I have some issues between one or two of my twin sets and the solo silkie if they get penned too close sometimes, they are supposed to be close in age but are probably around a week apart. I've been setting multiple feeding stations a distance apart around...
Full agreement on the multiplying. I started with one and picked up a second so she could have a friend. Then I had to get another when the first when broody. Suddenly I have four chicks added bringing my total to 7, after that I learned I am not allowed to go to chicken sales with one of my...
I'm currently waiting on a couple of my youngling to crow or not. It's a toss-up to whether my half silkie is male, but I am highly suspect one of my easter eggers is.

You could also try candling them, to see if they are even viable. I ended up doing that with plans to introduce chicks if there were no takers, but a single egg had a chick in it.
This This was my original flock before they were attacked by a predator. I still have 3 this flock (probably the same as in my profile pic.)
Above is the Silky and her hatchling.
Below are the sets of twins that will be replacing the ones I lost
