I'm having zero luck herding them into the house at night. I've been resisting feeding them in the coop at night because I suspect they'll make a horrible mess, but I'm going to give that a try this week. So far they just act like they can't figure out the ramp to the coop door at all. I've even...
I've had my ducks for about a month and I love them--they're a lot cuter than the chickens and a lot quieter, too. They are pretty messy and aren't laying yet but I'm really enjoying them. The only issue I have is that they refuse to go in the coop at night. The chickens just put themselves to...
Anyone interested in a LF Araucana rooster? I have a gorgeous tailed blue with gold lacing (from rumpless stock--he's the only one out of that hatch with a tail) and a rumpless black (who seems huge to me, but I don't have that much to compare him against). They're both free to a good home...
Free to good home! Two gorgeous araucana roosters, 4 months old. One black rumpless, one blue tailed (from rumpless stock). Very nice temperaments. In Fairfax, VA

Anyone bringing Araucanas? We have blue, black, and white--I'd love to get a couple other colors. I'd prefer pullets, but I'd be interested in hatching eggs, too.
That's part of my confusion--the temps are stable in the LG. I actually tried to make my own and couldn't get the temps stable in that one, which is why I stuck with the LG. I've got three thermometers in there and temp and humidity don't seem to be the problem.
He's gorgeous! I would love to have him with my Araucana--I bet he'd make me some beautiful chicks. I'm sure it's way more than I can justify, but what would shipping be to 22042?
In general, I agree, but sometimes they do surprise you. I have four dogs and one of them is obsessed with the birds. It's only been three weeks, but I'm becoming quite discouraged that he'll ever calm down enough to be allowed to coexist with them unsupervised. The surprising thing is that out...
The incubator is inside a cabinet, but the cord runs out the door and stretches across the countertop to the wall. I've got three thermometers/hydrometers in there--a walmart one, one of the remote ones (and the stand is on the countertop and that's where I noticed the big drop in temps), and...

Dont be so quick to blame the brand. I have had great hatches with my Still Air LG....
If none even started developing, could it be a fertility problem?
These are from Hinkjc, so I'm pretty confident of fertility. I'm certain it's something I'm doing but I'm not sure what. I'm...
So, my last hatch of mailed eggs I got 3 out of 16, one was deformed and had to be culled. This hatch I had hand delivered eggs from the same breeder. Today was Day 14 and I walked into my kitchen to see the temperature reading for the incubator at 68!!! At first I thought my daughter had...
These are Araucana--and they're real fliers! My neighbors had chickens when I was little and they hopped a bit but never really took flight. The first time an Araucana flew over my head I just about had a heart attack. That's why I was figuring a more vertical cage might be appropriate. The...
Well, our "kitchen" is huge with a vaulted ceiling. It was a sunroom addition and I tore the wall down between it and the old kitchen. So far I haven't noticed a problem with dust--but it's only been 3 weeks and we only have 4 chicks, so maybe it will get worse. We have five dogs and three cats...
Not sure if this is the right section, but I was wondering if anyone has permanent indoor housing for their birds. We're really enjoying having our brooder in the kitchen over the winter and I was considering the possibility of keeping one or two birds as indoor "pets" when the rest go out to...
