Well I cleared all my Lfs out except one pair. A black cockeral and a blue pullet. The pullet is very nice but on the small size, and the rooster is decent. Maybe I could get some eggs from you Bo.
Like i said, I raise LF cochins, and my males show who they are very earky on. I cna tell whos male and whos female by a fast look at 10-12 weeks. I m still saying hen
You're welcome and I'm still saying hen. Mine had cons like that and even darker and sill hens at that age. Even if it's a roo your neighbors might not complain so it's is possible to keep it if its a him. My Cochin Roos don't crow a lot. Bet of wishes.
You're best bet would be to just wait it out and see what comes. Which sucks to wait, but it would suck to get rid of him/her and it turns out a pullet
Pullet, by 20 weeks the combs would be deep red, even mine thats younger than yours is redder in the face and more manly. It is a pullet. Also not blue, it has barring I think. But its not a blue. But it is very pretty.
Diff breed. Most hatcheries throw in an extra chick when you order chicks. Might be a brown leghorn. It's hard to tell. Maybe a welsummer. Time will tell
WIll a rooster attempt to breed hens that arent close to laying? As my roster (same age and breed) is starting to mount them and i was curious if it has anything to do with them being close to laying
Ok thats a big help! I will check the girls in a little bit. They're beautiful birds, I am just wanting eggs so I can hatch and sell them and keep my hobby going. Does that go for all breeds?
