Anyone interested in Marans Roosters? I'm overloaded with roosters they have to go real soon or in going to Cull them. I've already began. I have Black Copper, Blue Copper, Blue Splash and Blue Marans. They were hatched in late January and early February. They're currently in Dover.
I finally made it to middle Tennessee. I brought my flock in from Oklahoma. I brought 17 hens 2 roosters 7 five week old chicks and 24 two week old chicks. For now they're in Dover until I get my pens built. I carried them in their coops and brooder on a 16 ft trailer.
Set it and forget it has been the best for it working properly. I took the plugs out and let it run dry until lockdown. Then I put a 2 wet sponges inside and still left the plugs out. Once the chicks started hatching and humidity got real high I took the sponges out. It running in the 60's%...
I had problems last year with incubation, and my first run this year wasn't real good. But my last two I've got over 70% hatch rate from the eggs that were fertile after day7. I'm much happier with those. I got 25 out of 32 fertile in my last hatch and still waiting to see on the one hatching...
I have 2 wheaten hens and a Splash rooster. Will their offspring be blue wheaten? I also have a Blue Marans chick that's 2 weeks old looks like a roostersince he's already got a red comb. Would the Blue work better than Splash?
My Americaunas took 6 months while the Marans took 7 months to lay. I bought the Americaunas chicks while the Marans were hatching and put them in the brooder together. Crooss between the two should be 6 to 7 months to get eggs.
I just started the 4th incubator run. 1st was good with my eggs but shiped eggs only got 3 out of the dozen. My 2nd run went bad. My daughter bumped the thermostat dial and it was at 111 degres for several hours. I got 4. Only 1 from 2 dozen shipped eggs and 3 from mine. I started the 3rd in my...
I couldn't make it. I have to be a mechanic today so my car will be ready for a road trip. I have to change all the top engine gaskets except for head gaskets.
The wheaten hens I have probably from my Splash rooster all have the yellowish colored legs and beaks are kind of peachy colored. Whereas my Splash chick has the grayish white legs and beak.
I don't quite understand the e+ or eWH. The fellow I got the hens from had an Americauna rooster and some of those chicks are probably from his rooster. I also have some that are all yellow and some that are white. I have a Splash rooster and the Splash chicks are white. They usually have grey...
I took my 4 chicks out of the Incubator this morning, I picked up a few of the eggs and put it to my ear to listen as I tapped on it. I can usually hear movement in the eggs or a peep. I put the chicks in the brooder with my weekend hatchlings. I have more eggs setting ready to go in the...
I have several Wheaten chicks coming out white. One is a little yellow. A couple of them have stripes. Fellow I got the Wheaten hens from had them with an americauna rooster. Now they are with my Splash Rooster.
