    Dwarf silkie?

Hello! I haven't been on here in a long time to update, but Ida is still thriving. She ended up being a rooster, so I no longer have him, but a family member keeps him for me. He's still on the smaller side as far as I know, but he finally grew :)

    Utah!

Anybody want a blue silkie rooster? He's 3 to 4 months old and I can't have him in Holladay.

    Utah!

Hello everyone, it appears one of my silkies has wry neck. I discovered it last night. Her neck was tucked completely under her body and she wasn't walking. I brought her inside and gave her some water through a syringe (I didn't force it, i just made little droplets come out to avoid...

    Tolbunt behavior help please!

I went ahead and put her top poof in a ponytail, and aside from the fact that she looks like a complete goofball, she seems more active. I will continue to monitor her today and see if I can notice more improvement.

    Tolbunt behavior help please!

I'm thinking I might try the hair tie route first so I can avoid cutting. I don't think it will cause her to get picked on or anything since most of my other girls are polish too. I also have 3 silkies but they haven't fluffed up fully to tell if it will cover their eyes or not. Thanks everyone...

    Tolbunt behavior help please!

Thank you. All of my other polish don't have as massive as a poof as she does, so that is the reason I guessed it could be because she can't see. Is there a specific way that I should clip them?

    Tolbunt behavior help please!

I have one tolbunt. All of my girls are about 11 or 12 weeks old now. I taught all of them to use the ladder to go down into the run, and to tuck themselves in at night time by climbing up it, and we are working on learning to roost, but for some reason they prefer to lay by the opening that...

    Baby chick not growing

My little Silkie is still pretty small, but finally growing a little. She's getting more feathered in. I'm sorry your chick seems to be extra sleepy. I've not experienced that with the Silkie. I am not sure what advice to offer you because I don't want to tell you the wrong thing to do.

    Baby chick not growing

They may not take it at first if they are only a couple weeks old. I tried when they were around 2 to 3 weeks old and they weren't extremely interested. But at about 5 weeks they gobbled stuff up and loved it.

    Baby chick not growing

No problem. I give them blueberries, strawberries, banana, leftover salad, occasionally some raisins or some organic multi grain bread crumbled up.

    Baby chick not growing

I have 8 chicks that are 8 weeks old, and 3 of them are silkies. One of the silkies has been so much tinier than everyone else also! She's eating and drinking and playing. She's always one of the first to run up to me to get treats, etc. At 8 weeks old, she's just BARELY starting to feather in...

    Brooder dust eliminating test

I have 8 week old chicks that are still inside (crazy, I know). Due to life happening, we won't have our coop fully finished until one day this week. Cleaning dust everyday has become a little much, so I was trying to find a way to eliminate it a little bit. I found myself staring at the...

Chick starter crumbles to organic grower pellets...

Thank you. I tried to hand feed some of it so I could watch closely to see if they were getting any. They are so messy it's hard to tell haha. They have been interested and trying to eat it, so we will see how it goes. I appreciate your response.

Chick starter crumbles to organic grower pellets...

so I went to get my girls some grower. The store where I buy their feed said on the chick starter instructions to only feed the chick starter through the first 8 weeks. I bought their organic grower feed, and low and behold, it is in pellet form. Is this okay to feed to my 8 week old girls? Is...

How do i sell roosters on craigslist.

The birds could be killed by being attacked by dogs or cockfighting. The reason this all started is because I posted my experience of selling on a classified site and what I look for in people wanting to take my bird. I eat chicken, but it is my personal choice to keep MY chickens as pets, and...

    Tolbunt Polish

My husband's uncle was selling the tolbunts that he had for $15. My rooster was from that hatch. I'm not sure what the standard pricing is otherwise.
