Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Hummm, a flock block is kinda like the chicken equivalent of a pez treat dispenser or a pumpkin 🎃.

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Oh wow that is more varied than I thought, thank you for sharing that picture. Yeah I would be shocked if it were Nyx, I guess all there is to do is wait it out. The size will tell the difference once they have been laying for a bit.

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

It’s a pretty good sized space but there is only one way in or out. My plan was to put in some tree log, leans to hide behind, and some things to jump up on, similar to the run. Same with the new coop there is only one way in and out.

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Thanks and you’re right they are stubbornly independent about some things to be sure 🤣 I will give it a go, worse come to worse I can close it off again.

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

I am dealing with this as well. Integration is dicey unless a mama raises the chicks. Even then there is some drama though considerably less. First the Roos one SFH Roo and one Silkie Roo sighh. The silkie is definitely getting picked on and harassed but never to the point of injury. They are...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Ha! I am so glad the kitties are inside. I am sure they do think they could take that hawk but goodness I wouldn’t want to risk it.

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Yeah, she may end up looking quite similar but with a lighter head poof and darker body? I swear I do see fully white feathers mixed with grey in lines but it’s doesn’t stick out as much as the black and white. She she may well be a blue cuckoo but with the fuzzy feathering, I am guessing she...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Nothing butt tiny fluffy butts. Arrangement today is dot, dash, dash, dot, dash, dot. They are trying to speak to me, I know it! 🤣 9/3 we go our first tiny fairy egg from I assume the SFH’s. Silkie eggs are typically more white than this right? I have gotten three more since then. So, I...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Lovely photo, what I read were general observations and more of a combination. Chippys comb isn’t bright pink, I see no wattle development either. I am still thinking pullet.

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

They really are beautiful lil bits of floof. Mine go out with the SFH’s we do have rural property but we also have lots of hiding spots and a huge murder of crows that legit help out. All my chickens listen to the warnings and dash for cover when they hear it. I have seen them drive hawks away...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Swedish flowers are supposedly long lived as well. I will keep my fingers crossed for that being true for all of them.

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

I politely disagree, you can and should chicken sit for while, especially with the chicks. They grow up to darn fast 💨 They are absolutely adorable 🥰 mama is doing a wonderful job too!

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

I went and took a good look at speckled Sussex pullets vs young Roos. The boys tend to develop fairly early, very often they feather in with a white breast, the girls do not. Combs come in early both boys and pullets. Wattles seem to generally pop early on the boys. So far my guess is she is the...
