Thank you for your insight. I hope to get some better pictures soon. We just moved them to the coop enclosure with the warming plate as our evenings have been fairly cool still. They are doing great and seem to love the extra run around space. -

Well, at 7 days old both albino chicks passed away, and quickly. Here one second, in good spirits, and gone the next. My son understands as I reminded him everyday that the possibility of survival was slim. The others are still doing great, feathering out. -

I had a salmon faverolle roo like this, but he had a rough hatch out. My toddler daughter had gotten into the incubator on hatch day and squished the egg. Set my incubator temp too high - Guinea eggs
I’ve had an incubator that heated a degree higher than it was set at & the hatch was 2 days earlier than it was supposed to be. The hatching rate was still high. I would definitely look into getting a separate thermometer and hygrometer for the inside & calibrating it. There are a few...- Kholts

Day 21 - movement but no pips
What temp has the incubator been set at & reading? Even one degree low can delay hatching up to a few days. Egg movement is a great sign. Patience is key. Don’t be surprised if they pip and then sit like that for half a day with little progress. They like to take their time.- Kholts

Yup I do the mealworm, sprouts & fruit treats & work on getting them to approach, so does my son. Our enclosure has a front open door and a slanted top door. Both work great. -

Quail piling in a weird spot
Do you have any other animals or children walking past the brooder or looking in periodically that the quail can see. Piling together right in the middle makes me think they are possibly seeing something outside the brooder that they perceive as a predator and are trying to remain in a “safe”... -

Good to know. Well I will watch them closely and monitor. I have room and indoor amenities with dim lighting to house them separately if I need too. We will take it day by day & I can prep my son for the possibility of a short life. -

I have two of these ones, and had to look to see. I wouldn’t say the eyes are bulgy per se but one definitely has a red tinge look to the eyes from what I can tell. The other at moments in the right light kinda looks red too. I can get better face pictures if you like?
