Everything I read says to wash them with dawn dish washing liquid and blow dry afterwards. I've never dealt with this, so I'm not sure if any other care is necessary. You may need to contact a vet and ask.
Generally you need to pen them away from their chosen nest site for 3-7 days to break them from being broody. Some use a wire bottom crate to help cool them off. I just relocate them and it seems to work for most. Provide a roost, feed and water.
Trixie is so sweet. She's starting to get moments of crazy boxer running. Can't wait until she gains full force like a bull in a China shop. I swear she grows every night in her crate.
I'd want a 50 pound one. There's so much diversity in the breed now. I always enjoy seeing a well bred smaller lab. They shouldn't require a barn to house. I would think the bigger ones can't hunt well, nor can the hunter transport it as easily, especially in a boat.
I don't grow anything for mine as we free range and they can get their own stuff. I'm curious enough to follow along being a gardener. I used to sprout seeds to breed budgies. That's about as close I ever got. I just used their seed mix. I would assume chickens would love that too. I...
Cochins in general don't lay a lot of eggs as they are considered a meat breed. Mine lay for a while than take breaks. Averages are 100- 180 eggs a year. In my experiences most fall around 100 a season.
We went past a place in town that had 6 adult yellow labs and a puppy out in a tiny front yard. They looked well cared for. If I was younger I might try a lab, but the size difference between lines scares me. Some might as well be mastiffs.
